I have serious doubts if Rupp can ever PR in the marathon again. BUT it certainly is not an impossibility. He needs to be able to get in an extended period of training without any injuries or serious niggles. It is possible just a bit of a long shot.
BUT whether he does it or not, I absolutely love his attitude and determination! GO GALEN RUPP.
Anyway, this half is just essentially a training run for him so we cannot judge his prospects based on the NY Half.
The same gets said of every Newbury Park runner, all their parents, coaches, and even the janitor. In actuality, none of them ever have. Rupp could if he simply bothered to time his warmup? Well, he won't. In the meantime, he theoritically has every AR from 10k up. He literally has none. No records are kept for what Rupp has conceptually done. This Board continually gives him credit for what he 'could' do.
I give him credit only for what he has done, like everyone else.

First of all, you're listing a whole lot of really old dates. Thus thread never was about whether or not his entire career was good, bad, or average. It is about Rupp now. More accurately, tomorrow. Even more accurately, the entire time period between now and the next Games. Your list does not disprove the contention that he is a washed-up has been. It tends to confirm it.
My most significant issue with the post, however, is that you claim you give credit for what he has actually done (here's the good part) LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
Perhaps you didn't notice the post above which claimed he could wake up tomorrow and tempo a sub-28. Could he have between 2011 and '15? Perhaps, although I believe it would have been a very hard workout for him then. But he most certainly isn't doing this any given morning these days. No way.
Apparently you didn't notice the 'pop a 2:05 any day now' posts. This poster doesn't believe this. He is being sarcastic because many posters seriously thought this years ago, back when he couldn't break 2:10. It seems as though some folks actually believe it now, according to the posters who continually point out Kipchoge's age.
Giving Rupp credit for what he can't do - "He doesn't run for time. He runs to win!" - is a common occurance on the Board. More popular even than "Every Newbury Park runner could easily break Chapa's 10000 record. They could get up tomorrow morning and tempo it!" Credit where it is not due.
He's not in top shape for the half this weekend but he's still dreaming big.

He said he has been pain-free for two months — “a huge blessing” — but his training load hasn’t been close to normal going into Sunday’s 13.1-mile race. “I’m not expecting to be in top shape,” he said. “But I am hoping to be competitive here in the half coming up and keep building from here.”
I admire Galen for wanting to put a brave face on it and stay optimistic. That is part of his success and resilience. However Galen is FINISHED in the sense of ever being the elite runner he was. It will never happen even with the super shoes. Galen no longer has the ability to break 4, 13:30, 28 or 2:08. Even with the super shoes those days are behind him. Reality is a tough pill to swallow but it might be easier if it comes in the binders of a mailed book.
The above gets downvoted 9-28. This is an accurate barometer of how much the average poster or lurker knows, which is not much, at least about running.

And Rupp goes out and embarrasses himself. Guys a joke. Was doped by Alberto his entire career. Had some residual benefits for a little while but now it appears that’s all run out. Rupp’s a fraud

Rupp's contract most likely requires him to do a certain number of high-level races. Nothing embarrassing about taking a beating to feed your family.
