This reminds me of an argument I had earlier in the week with a NCAA D2 coach. I basically was saying why do they have division records in the NCAA. There should only be one record - the NCAA. There is only one high school federation record. I made the comment after seeing D2 womens 3000 record was 9:11 and I was like a high school girl ran 9:02 this weekend he said “those girls go D1” I said D3 records are faster than D2 what is the freaking point!? A D1 talent could go to D2 for grad school and then what!?
Wiley is entered in the 600, 800, mile, 3000, and the DMR. Even more amazing is that NAIA has preliminaries in EVERY event, including the 3000 and DMR. Assuming she runs the DMR preliminary, this will be 10 races over three days, including nine races in 28 hours. Laying it all on the track for the team title. The schedule will look like this:
Saturday 12:25 - Mile final 1:25 - 600 final 2:10 - 800 final 2:45 3000 final 4:20 DMR final
The future of American milers looks bright - and her name is ADDY WILEY!
This is single-handedly the dumbest thing I have ever seen someone attempt. That said, despite NAIA not being that good, her winning 4 titles the span of three hours and then coming back 90 minutes later to lead her team to a DMR title would be legendary.
Stoffel and Wilson did the same kind of insane schedule winning titles and the championship for Huntington and everyone thought it was legendary too. That is, until they came forward and asked to have their championship wins thrown out for doping.
