^^ athletes probably wanting to remain brand neutral until they get to college
I thought athletes are not allowed to
alter their uniforms/kits. Nike pays a lot to USATF and they want the logo shown. In the WC or Olympics, many are sponsored by other shoe brands, they don't cover up the Nike swoosh. Would be interested to know what was the real reason. I wonder if they were reprimanded.
They're not. For track champs, kit is checked in the call room to ensure that only official team kit is worn; the only exceptions are shoes.
Covering up logos is definitely a violation of the rules which could lead to the whole team could be sanctioned.
Wasn't there a similar dust-up at one of the club XC championships a number of years ago? Either logos were too big or too many.
In 2011 USATF's National Office tried to enforce international logo rules on domestic championships like Club Cross. That was never in our rule book and rules were subsequently amended to make it extra clear that athletes can wear as many logos and in any size they want at USATF Championships, excluding the Olympic Trials.
