Jonathan and I were talking the other day about legacy building. Who has the most to gain by winning World xc? Cheptegei, who could end up as the GOAT, certainly is someone.
I do not believe JC could end up as the GOAT. He turns 27 in September and I just don’t think he will have the global medals to have that kind of status. His records will likely be broken in the next decade also. Now of course if he has some bizarre Kipchoge marathon career, then all bets are off.
It doesn't seem unreasonable that he could win at least two more track golds between Budapest, Paris, and Tokyo in 2025. If he goes on to be successful in the marathon and medals in LA/wins a couple majors I think he has to at least be in the discussion for GOAT.
