You think he’s taking these races very seriously? Just like another poster said, he’s probably training through these races. He most likely goes to Australia to stay low key while he trains and gets a couple races in.
1:56…Centro is a victim of the bad karma he created this week by trashing the US mixed relay world cross selections and implying he deserves a spot on that team.

You think he wanted to run as slow as 156?
156 should not even be a workout effort
The point is, he is working out, and he would know pretty accurately what he should be able to do. Did he think he was in 1:50 shape and things went sideways? What were his splits? Was he ok through 400 or 600 and then tied up, or was he slow from the start? No way he walked out there knowing the best he could manage was 1:56.
He was never in the race. He immediately went to the back, was about 5-10 meters off of the pack the entire first lap, thought it might have been one of those tactical centro training races but the move never came. Looked like he gave up the last 200m instead of making it hurt.
I'm curious as to why you have referred the field as club runners? Actually the field was only missing Deng and Bol. A tactical race in windy conditions in February. Maybe you would like to tell the athletes in the race they are just club runners. You seem like a smart guy. Don't belittle the guys that raced tonight.
What's wrong with being a club runner?
He means guys who don't make a living traveling the owrld trying to earn enough for breakfast, and sleeping on couches.
Back in my day Box Hill Vs Glenhuntly made the papers and had Olympic runners.
This guy gets it. These guys hone their craft at Vic Milers meets racing for their clubs. I never said they were not amazing runners, but Centro who's an olympic gold medalist got his ass handed to him by guys who compete in most of their races on a regional club level.

Do you think Centro cares one bit about that performance?
He got a great pay day, a trip to Australia and can still look at his Olympic gold medal when he gets home.
