Lol at Aregawi beating Kamworor.
How will leo young do in u20s y’all think?
"That Norwegian beat him two times" and offered the luxury to beat him a year after he set a WR for the 5000m.
Lars Viren (1976, 13:24 5000m)
S. Aouita (1984, 13:05 5000m)
I didn't see for 30 years a runner with the finish power of Aouita.
Tadese Worku out with injury. Looks like ongoing visa issues as well with Ethiopia (8 athletes denied visa) and Kenya. Would be a real shame if anyone especially the big names miss due to visa issues (or injury).

I think Kamworor is on the upswing but back at his peak? Don’t know
Bummer about visa issues but assuming that’s the U20s vs the big-name pros.
As for Leo Young…maybe 50 seconds back and 15th?

Yeah I think mostly U20s due possibly to lack of travel history or something according to Emily Evans on Twitter.
What has Aouita got to do with anything I said, or that I was responding to?
Nice! I really think AUS is the favorite. Ethiopia and Kenya both have real question marks. GBR/USA/ESP aren’t sending A teams.
Caster Semenya in the mixed relay is interesting.

There were some years where I was a supporter of Kiplimo but I only see him as a bad project.
Unless I see consistent performances from him, Aregawi or Cheptegei, I'm not in the taking for these runners who go high and low every month.

This post aged well.

Thanks for laying this out there, JWH. It's certainly plausible because I think the first 2 (Isaac and Rogers) here can finish top 10.
Here are some predictions that will assuredly be wrong:
1- Jacob Kiplimo (UGA)
2- Kibiwott Kandie (KEN)
3- Joshua Cheptegei (UGA)
4- Nicholas Kipkorir (KEN)
5- Berihu Aregawi (ETH)
6- Geoffrey Kamworor (KEN)
7- Rodrigue Kwizera (BDI)
8- Sabastian Kamaru Sawe (KEN)
9- Tadese Worku (ETH)
10- Selemon Barega (ETH)
11- Daniel Simiu Ebenyo (KEN)
12- Rogers Kibet (UGA)
13- Hailemaryam Amare (ETH)
14- Emmanuel Kiprop Kipruto (KEN)
15- Getaneh Molla (ETH)
16- Jack Rayner (AUS)
17- Isaac Kibet (UGA)
18- Emmanuel Bor (USA)
19- Mogos Tuemay (ETH)
20- Anthony Rotich (USA)Team Scores:
KEN- 20; UGA- 33; ETH- 37
Well I nailed 1 and 3. Tougher time sorting out the Kenyans! Got 4 out of the top 5. Kipkorir ran a cagey race and I think he thought more guys would die. Kamworor and Ebenyo both exceeded my expectations. Hit on Sawe exactly. Pretty close on team scores though Ethiopia strong pack beat out Uganda with an off race from Isaac Kibet.
