Stewy McSweyn is also a 1500 runner who is a legitimate threat at longer distances.
7:28 at the end of last season after dealing with Covid reactions and sickness most of the year. And a 1:02 HM in 2021 something like 5 days after a 3:33 1500.
Nuguse is the most promising American distance runner of all time. Grant Fisher included.
IF some of you were smarter, and I understand this is not all your fault, you would focus more on the fact that YN finished 3.73 seconds ahead of a soon to be 30 year old named Sam Atkin. Then maybe some of your hyperbole would simmer down.
The previous NCAA record was Henry Rono 7:43 (Cole Sprout .1 behind at #2 all-time NCAA).
Hobbs has now run faster than two standing NCAA records in his career. Of course, both of those are lower now... but who's gonna argue now that running NCAA record level performances is disappointing. Heck of a career already! If he was a collegian, we'd be expecting a pro contract.

Uh what? Nuguse ran 7:38 last year and Cragg had it before that.

Am I missing something? Those are the outdoor times, but Nuguse had the indoor and overall record at 7:38?
Does Nuguse move up to 5k now? Attempt the double?
He's either going to be in 3:28-30 shape and will contend for a medal in the 15, or will be so-so in the 15 but amazing in the 5. That's my prediction.

You realize that he used to acquit himself quite well against his now teammates, Garcia Romo and Hoare, when they were all in college, right? Those guys have done pretty well internationally in the 1500m so far.

I think he should stick with the 15/mile considering he's a former NCAA champion and record holder in the event. Maybe he's a 12:45 guy waiting to be happen but sub 3:30 looks a lot closer to me right now.

They've both moved passed him in the 15 since then, but we'll see now that Nuguse is healthy. He was great against college guys, but I don't think he quite has the wheels for the 15 at the next level.
