i'm also personally offended by this because i run 9 minute miles in local 10Ks and you can see how this endangers my ability to compete at this completely inane level
I love track&field. I train hard everyday to reach my goals in this sport but if this is going to be allowed this will take away biological women’s livelihoods. We don’t stand a chance.
No trans woman in track & field has ever competed in the Olympics or the World Championships. But if we halve the upper limit of testoeterone restriction and double the duration of that restriction, no cis woman would stand a chance against trans women who have been waiting all along for their opportunity to take medals away from cis women, right?
My question to Ms. Baker is where those tran women are. And why have they been hiding? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to compete before the restricitons are tightened?
I guess world athletics will change their mind when a transgender woman runs a 6.6 60m, 20.5 200m, 46 400m indoors, 1:48 800m 3:55 Mile. I’m understanding of inclusion but we’re walking on thin ice with this one.

All joking aside, can somebody explain to me why men have an advantage over women in darts? Darts??

Just spitballin here: longer arms mean a release point whole centimeters closer to the board.

and can we talk about the illustrious $20 Walker Brothers Pancake House gift certificate prize that a trans woman dart-er could steal from a full-blooded American female? our women are losing breakfast food and no one is even batting an eyelash, SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING
This celebratory article from Outsports gives the names of 28 male athletes claiming trans identities who either "have won national or international competitions" in women's sports or have racked up other major wins in the female category.
As you can see from the dates given in the article, the majority of the male athletes who are named have won big in women's and girls competition the past 5-6 years, and all except one have done so in the current century.
BTW, the list of names given by Outsports is far from complete. It leaves out a number of male athletes claiming trans identities who have racked up big wins and been awarded newsworthy titles and honors in female competition. Such as surfer Sasha Jane Lowerson, who at age 43 became the top title-holder in two Australian women's surfing events that Lowerson previously won when competing in the men's category; American June Eastwood, whose accomplishments in women's college running led to Eastwood being named Big Sky Conference Female Athlete of the Week; and Stephanie Barrett, a top-tier performer in Canadian, Pan American and world elite women's archery who was chosen to take the single spot given to Canada in women's archery at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics - quite a feat for someone who first picked a bow only 5 years before at age 37.
Did you lift this list from the Onion? I mean some of them are hilarious. How exactly is there a biological difference in ability in darts or snooker? Disc golf? Even archery?
The sports you find laughable are taken seriously by the persons who compete in them and follow them. You do know, I hope, that some people find running pretty risible too.
You're right that biological differences between the sexes don't appear to give adolescent and adult males as much of an advantage over females in darts as in sports like running and swimming - but that's definitely not the case in snooker, disc golf and archery.
Men and teenage boys have a huge competitive edge over women and teenage girls in snooker, disc golf and archery due to biological factors like males' far greater upper body strength, lean muscle mass, lung capacity and throat size, taller height on average, wider shoulder width, longer arm length and reach, bigger hand and finger size, far greater grip strength - along with males' considerably lower rates of respiration and heart beat, different center of gravity, and the different nature of male and female muscles, tendons, connective tissues, muscles, levels of muscle memory, etc.
Moreover, males have major advantages in snooker, disc golf and archery - and to a lesser extent in darts - because they lack female breasts that can get in the way, female metabolism, natural female tendency to put on on body fat and female distribution of body fat; and because as males, they don't go through female hormonal cycles due to ovulation and menstruation; they don't have periods; and they never ever have to deal with or even worry about pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, maternity and breastfeeding affecting their ability to train and compete at any time over the course of their sports careers.
Also, for the record: the sports you find hilarious are fairly lucrative relative to some other sports. The top prize in a darts tournament is currently £500,000 (GBP) - which is also the current top prize for professional snooker events. By comparison, the top prize at the world archery championships a relatively paltry $30,000 (USD). Beyond the prize money, people who excel in these sports often earn good money from sponsorship deals, ancillary awards, appearances and speaking gigs too.
Natalie Ryan, the male athlete with a trans identity who won several US women's disc golf tournaments in 2022, took home $44,000 (USD) in prize money from those events. The top 20 male players in professional men's disc golf average more than $60,000 per year in prize money. Maybe that's chump change to you, but most people would consider winning that amount of dough from throwing a frisbee around on golf courses to be a pretty sweet deal.
The prize money in professional women's snooker is still much, much lower than the prize money in men's snooker, in large part because women were only given a place on the world snooker tour for the first time in 2022. The top prize for an event in women's snooker on the world tour is now £15,000, a tiny amount compared to the £500,000 top prize in men's snooker on the tour.
As it happens, the top two players in men's pro snooker consistently earn in the million-pound range from being snooker aces. Even as you snort through your nose that sports like snooker, disc golf, darts and archery are hilarious, a lot of the guys who perform at the topmost levels of these endeavors are laughing all the way to the bank.
I don't think people with clear biological advantages should be allowed to compete as females, .....but there is ZERO threat to women's sports as a whole.
Zero.
I've been hearing about this 'end of women's sport' for years now and it's been nothing but a tiny blip. As a whole, women's sport is completely unchanged. The vast majority of the millions that compete in women's sport is completely unaffected in any meaningful way at all.
100% written by a person with a penis, whether they tuck it or not.
All joking aside, can somebody explain to me why men have an advantage over women in darts? Darts??
Just spitballin here: longer arms mean a release point whole centimeters closer to the board.
Just spitballing here for snooker: any advantage would be negated by occasionally bumping your balls against the table that would make the ballsiest spit out their balls.
For darts, if you think a penis contributes to improved aim, just take a look at any public urinal.

i get it, i subscribe to the Ocho also
and as the reigning 30 - 31.75 year old female age category champion from the Southern Suburban region of the all-city Dublin snooker league from 2013 - 2014, i can assure you this is serious business

You have no idea of the travails of descended testicles that every man faces. Ask a rower whose balls can get inexplicably squished. Or a runner whose balls start hurting for no reason. Or a gymnast that bangs their balls. Or a herniated most-likely-male athlete whose intestines scurry down the inguinal canal. Testicles are very delicate objects that men have to constantly worry about keeping safe and out of the way, not in the least because an errant dart might puncture their pouch.

You world view is misogynist. There’s literally not any physical endeavor on earth where you think women and men are on a level playing field. Seriously, your attitude is regressive and discriminatory. You are implying women are inferior across a vast array of activities. Your nonsense has been used to justify discrimination in the work place and across society for ages. Don’t you think women are just as good fighter pilots and surgeons? What about the surgeons breasts and hips making their access to the operative field more difficult or that it’s harder for then the bear the weight of the headlamp. Maybe they should stick to being pediatricians or housewives. Actually, for the latter role I’m very confident they are better then men. I know you think your extreme views are protecting women, but no, they are injuring them.
Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you.
The recent UK census showed 0.2% of the population are transgender. On average you'll meet two transgender people a year. The chances of meeting one in a professional shot put competition is even smaller.
First of all that only holds true if shot put/athletics has exactly the same rate of individuals who are transgender as the general population, which is unlikely to be true.
Regarding the comment about being brave, making comments like this can be career suicide. Also, women who speak out often get death threats, rape threats etc. Look up JK Rowling and what she had to deal with, it's extreme.
0.2% are transgender 0.1% are specifically transgender women (48,000) 30% of the British population is aged 18-39
There was 500 women in the UK that recorded marks in the shot put last year (0.001% of UK pop)
0.001% of the 14,400 transwomen aged 18-39 would mean 0.144 transgender women are doing shot put every year in the UK.
The biggest threat to women's shot put is more likely to be participation and funding.
You don’t listen even when women tell you. You just dismiss them as pandering or being afraid or woke or whatever. You don’t think you can be as good or better at darts than any man, that’s sad for you.
Friendly reminder, this is an emotional topic for most. Please be respectful. Disagreeing strongly about the role of trans athletes in sport is fine but forgetting the humanity of trans athletes is not.
