Go to a race, watch a race on TV, look how many Instagram followers these runners have, look how broadly T&F media reaches.
Then you will start to understand why spending $50-100k to get a small logo on Woody Kincaid uniform and shoes doesn't make sense. He only has 11.5k Instagram followers and races less than 10 times a year, most of which aren't televised/streamed. His 12:58 is worthless for helping Nike make money.
In addition, athleisure is king in sportswear. Very little $ comes from track and field.
You can be deliberately obtuse but that game changed. The traditional sponsorship model doesn't really make sense in the social media era. This isn't unique to track, plenty of sponsor dependent sports like Nascar are dealing with this.
