While Aaron Sahlman won by 5 seconds in a local meet in February in 4:11 and Braden Seymour ran 4:16, the depth was also impressive. Newbury Park's non-seniors ran 4:23/4:26/4:30/4:31/4:34/4:44/4:44.56/4:49/4:57. My high school had a 4:18 and a 4:40s guy. They had ten or eleven guys at that level or better were the Young brothers not competing after going to Australia for world xc (obvious Lex did not qualify).
Pretty good depth for xc next year, and a bunch of them were frosh, at 4:26/4:34/4:44/4:57/5:14 (frosh-soph race). They'll be lacking some on the high side to be competitive at nationals but the depth is there and you'll see a lot of development from the frosh by the end of xc.

And they were also missing 2 juniors who were their 8th and 9th runners last XC season. Schohn and Guevara.
Even with 5 varsity XC spots open, it’s still gonna be just as hard to crack the varsity lineup.
Shetty was the #2 nonsenior last XC season, but here he was their 4th.
Pretty insane that Dickran was only 3 seconds behind Doshi. Looks like Doshi might have someone his level to do workouts with after all if Dickran’s track time translates to XC. People make big jumps from freshman to sophomore year.
Porter and Shetty weren’t far behind Dickran either.
And Porter was the guy that many of us thought would get the 7th spot last XC season but he was hurt or something so he couldn’t have a good season. Here he seems to be coming back.
Even with 5 seniors gone, a berth to NXN won’t be completely out of reach for NP.
Next year they could have about 5 seniors on varsity again.
I think one thing that will help them be really good next year is that not only are they deep, but there are literally no seniors on JV this year.

Also freshmsn Ethan Shearer (17:17 in 3 miles) but didn’t run here.
Aaron Cantu has an 8th grade brother who ran a 4:39 last spring. no idea if he will be going to Newbury Park
