I went to one once a long time ago. It never occurred to me and my friends that the entire place was one big gay cruising complex. More innocent time. Pretty gross. Water felt great though.
Yeah, my long run every Sunday in 2001 took me from Cliff House through Baker Beach across Golden Gate Bridge and into the Marin Headlands. One of the greatest long run routes ever, with a heck of a climb to get up the stairs from Baker Beach. The nudity never bothered me.
I came of age in the 70s. Nude beaches, skinny dipping, and streaking. Everyone was naked the whole decade.
Just relax, no one cares. Eat a kind gummy or hit the spliff. Don't stare. Enjoy a drink, stay in the shade. Don't ruin it by getting drunk.
If you get a flat stretch of damp beach when the tide is out, do some barefoot strides or intervals after morning coffee, you won't be sorry.
Isn't the point of a nude beach to be an exhibitionist or a voyeur? It's like telling people not to stare at a strip club. If you're a hot girl at a nude beach, you should be expecting a ton of stares from creepy old guys and if that makes you feel uncomfortable then you probably shouldn't be there.
Anyway, I have zero interest in nude beaches or strip clubs. I just think that's a dumb unwritten rule.
I’ve been to one in Jamaica. I was with my wife on the honeymoon. I’m positive that I drank pretty steadily from breakfast until the late morning when we went.
Definitely worth doing. The uncomfortableness goes away very quickly. It’s our natural state after all. Be aware of the sun exposure though on yr buns.
I went to one in OR on a river. I refused to take my shorts off. I SWEAR I'M A GROWER! haha I'm like those little tiny toys that you add water to and they expand to be HUGE! Yeah right.
There was some black dude with a huge hog walking around with his chest all puffed out.
I was with the hottest girl there. She kept pressuring me to take my shorts off. I refused until we were alone together later.
Most of the people there were old wrinkly people.
I'm not sure I'm following. You were perfectly fine letting her see your below-average size later on, but you cared what a bunch of random strangers thought of you earlier? Or you knew this was a one-time thing so you didn't want her to back out if she saw you beforehand at the river?
Yup, I'm more comfortable with someone I know over complete strangers. When you know someone is a nice person, they aren't going to hate on you. I didn't think about her backing out but I suppose that could have been a possibility.
Been to beaches that were not specifically designated so, just some people decided to take it all off. All I can say is that nude beaches are better in theory than they are in practice.
Never been to Sauvie's Island west of Portland, but frequent Rooster Rock east of Portland because it's closer to where I live. During the summer months it's a wide range of age groups, families, genders, straight and queer. Everyone has a good time. There are plenty of people still partially closed in the nude area as well.
I went to a spa in Slovakia whilst travelling with a couple of my mates about 20 years back. Anyway, we went in and it was ordinary but slightly underwhelming, a slide and a couple of pools. But there was a door that for some reason we were all scared to go through. We played a game of spoof on the agreement the loser would go and check it out. I don't know what I was expecting but I remember being absolutely terrified of losing and convinced I was going to lose. In fact my friend lost, went in, and of course it's a nude section. The facilities were vastly superior - many many saunas, steam rooms, plunge pools, etc. My enduring memory is of some nerdy computer programmer type having an earnest conversation with some supermodel fake boobs type as though it was the most natural things in the world (yeah, I know, but I still found it weird). Anyway, I hated it, but if I'd not gone through I'd have left without seeing most of the place.
