In 2021 he didn’t run any 800 race but he did run a PB of 3:28.28 so we can assume he was in the same kind of 800 shape, and Jakob still beat him in Tokyo and at pre.
I don’t think 800m speed has that much correlation with your kick in a fast paced 1500m race. It’s much more about how much energy you have left at the end, and in Eugene, Jake clearly had more energy left than Jakob on the final bend. If Jake had won that race in 3:35 I would have agreed but when he wins the race in 3:29 low, it’s because he was the best and the smartest on that day, and because he saved more energy for the end than Jakob.
You really think Jakob’s kick in Tokyo, easily pulling away to a 3:28 win was due to superior 800 speed ? Certainly not.
If Jakob really wants the 1500m outdoor record, he would be wise to drop his slowish 800m PB. He ran that local 800 in Norway in early June in a disappointing 1:47 for fourth place. He looked good winning the Lausanne 1500 in 3:29 low, but if wants to lop 3 seconds off that, he's gonna need more speed. 1:45 low or 1:44 would put him in position to go 3:26 or better.
J.I. likes being a 5000m champion. Don't expect fast 800m performances from him.
Should scare him enough to know he can’t get impeded to the point of breaking stride the last 200 and still win. It is doubtful Jakob will do anything but lead from at least 600 out racing him now.
We merged two threads together. The first i started was called, "Jakob Ingebrigtsen were you watching? Jake Wightman 1:43.65." The 2nd was, "Jakob Ingebrigtsen - The BIGGEST LOSER of this Brussel DL ?"

He doesn't have it. He can get nowhere near the wr.
Wightman has shown he has speed as well as endurance. Jakob only has the latter. Over the 1500 that isn't enough if Wightman is with him in the home straight.
Wightman has more speed, so it’s not surprising that his 800m would be substantially better than Jakob. Jakob is a 1500/5000 type, similar to El G. He has to grind it out and gap everyone in a 1500. I’d be surprised if Jakob was under any illusion that he could out kick Wightman off a slow pace. A pretty weak call out.
You might as well ask Wightman if he was watching Jakob destroy the 5000m field at Eugene. THAT is much scarier than what Wightman did which was run fractions faster than Alan Webb's 800m PB. No disrespect to Wightman was it was a great run for a 1500m specialist, but I really don't think this will get in Jakob's head.
Why would that scare Wightman? He already knows that Jakob is way better at 5000. What he doesn't know if Jakob is way better at 1500 if he has to do all the leading. Belgrade and Eugene would indicate no.

The WC showed it doesn't happen off a fast pace now, either.

A fast pace in which JI led a great deal. He also chose to wrestle the lead from the Kenyan. Valuable energy he needed late.
Looking at championship 1500's from a historical perspective one thing is clear. Leading early is putting you in a situation that usually ends badly for you.

Lol just switch Wightman and Jakob and 5000 with 800 and you can say the same about your post.
Yes, I am sure that Jakob is absolutely terrified of a guy who is 7 years older, has been blatantly ducking him with this fake focus on the 800, and who obviously got quite lucky at Worlds. Wightman is going to keep racing 800s indefinitely so that he can keep being the guy who beat the king. He knows that Jakob beats him 98% of the time.
