Ignore 'white privilege's whining. Steiner's times are indisputable, as is her rate of improvement - which is tremendous. Her performances speak for her.
Exactly right. I mean, her arm swing is horrendously bad. There was such a dramatic difference between Jackson’s and Steiner’s form in the WC final. lots of room for improvement
you must be trolling. to even compare a college domestic title to a global championship medal... to even mention them in the same breath. you are either trolling or american arrogance on full display.

does it? i discard performances of the ncaa circuit until they are repeated on the pro circuit. we can excuse her performance at worlds to a long season. The coming season will show her mettle.
I love watching her run, but mechanically she needs help.
That she is running so well with those mechanics shows her potential. But potential is never enough

Peoples running gaits follow natural movement patterns based on their anatomy.
If that's the way she's runs, that's the way she runs.
Trying to alter her gait would just cause tension.
The only exception is if someone has a bad gait due to lack of mobility/strength, it will improve as they get fitter. This is obviously not the case with a professional athlete.
Her form has changed since high school so I’m not sure if it is “natural” for her. Even in her early days at Kentucky she ran differently than she does now. Would a change in her form help? I’m sure it is something she and her coaches have addressed or will address.

"excuse her performances"??
She ran against the best in the world in the 200 and was 5th. Those ahead of her were much more seasoned on the world stage and she did significantly better than many that have more experience. She also won 2 gold medals in the relays. What did you expect? 3 golds medals?
Most runners that just graduated college would take her perfomance - excuse or not.

did she not have the 2nd best time in the world going into Worlds? A time far superior to anyone except the eventual winner of the 200M? I expected her to medal in the 200. I am fairly confident that you too expected her to medal. Any and every reasonable person expected her to challenge for a medal based upon her 21.7. My expectation was for her to win silver or bronze. Coming 5th is not something to celebrate. Winning medals as part of a relay team does not count.
your claim of it being her first global championship is mitigated by the fact that it was held in her home country just up the road from where she lives as the crow flies on a track she is very well acquainted with.
Now that she is a pro- i look forward to seeing what she delivers next season as next Season is all Worlds in Hungary.

TBH, I was more hopeful that she would win a medal but I can't say that I expected it despite having the 2nd fastest time. You mentioned the long season in a previous post. I do believe that her performance at the WC, that you deem to be less than impressive, can be attributed to racing nearly 60 times in the season. It's the reason that she has shut it down for the year. I a confident that when she comes into international ccompetitions next season, Diamond League meets or whatever, and has raced less than half the competitions than she did going into the WC, she will be at an even higher level. She also had to peak a lot throughout the season: The SEC meet, NCAA Championships, USATF, and WC. It was a lot.
100 low 10.7 I don't see it. 200 low 21.6 I don't see it. 400 low 49 Maybe the 400. No non African descent female has approached those times in 100 and 200.

She looks like a female cyborg running in the 200m dash. I had visions of the cyborg from T2...
As Allyson, Abby can run the 100m to 400m, 200m being her best event, although she's not as good as Allyson was.
Why do you think she won't be as good as Allyson Felix?
Fun fact. Steiner at age 22 has run 21.77 into a head wind (-0.3). Allyson Felix ran under 12.80 exactly 1 time in her career (12.69). Steiner has broken 22 three times- something Felix did just 6 times in her career.
But many sprinters don't get a whole lot better as they age. At age 22 Felix's pbs were 10.93 and 21.81. Her liftime pbs ended up being 10.89 and 21.69.

Couldn't disagree more. Her form has changed since high school significantly. Her new arm carriage has been coached and taught. You could say that's WHY she's running the times she is.

12.69? Did Felix also run the 100 hurdles? 😆
As for the other part of your comment that many sprinters don’t improve as they age, I’m not sure that I agree. Look at the list of top all-time 200 times. The majority of the women are at least in their mid-20s. Many are between 25-30. ETH ran her fastest time at 29. Shericka Jackson, at 28, is running the best that she ever has.
