frank lara top american, remember this post
Marathon pace might feel pretty comfortable to Mantz. Pretty excited about his debut.
Tiernan is the story here.
A 10 Km is one thing, but I'm not convinced his running style will translate to the marathon. That semi-high knee lift, the boxer like arm motion, he expends a LOT of energy at speed. Marathoners normally require a much more smooth and economical stride. I'm willing to be proved wrong - but I'm doubtful.

Hopefully he'll be running at a slightly slower speed than he runs for the 10k. If so, he should be fine.

You might be on to something, but considering he wasn’t injured much during the NCAA years (femur stress reaction before his Mission; dunno what else), maybe his running form is deceptively economical in a way not easily discerned by an untrained eye. If he runs well at Chicago, he wouldn’t be the first runner with a slightly unorthodox stride (A. Korir, A. Salazar) to bring it in a major. Also, there’s a possibility that, with Rupp likely to skip WC 2023, Mantz’s training suggests he has as good a chance as anyone to secure one of three marathon spots.

This is what I thought too and was wondering if anyone else might think so.
Also wonder if his stride might make him a super responder to the cheater-fly style of shoes.
