Yep. Maybe injuries, maybe loss of interest or the stress of college life. Maybe she just could not progress. Who knows? She is certainly not the only good high school runner that this applies to, and that includes others in her class that were rated higher. She had the three top 5 finishes at NXN, but never really had the track times. Good luck to her.
She always came though at NXN, and the anchor leg on the DMR at Penn Relays was a time she never approached before or after as far as I know. She could deliver for the team.
I see the down votes for what was meant as a compliment. But, I worded it poorly. I meant that she could deliver for FM when they needed it.
I always wonder about this. Schools who get all the top high school recruits--like if you are running Claire Walters times, you could impact most D1 teams. But at a school like NC state you don't even break top 7. It's gotta be hard to go from 4th in the nation to not even varsity.
I hope she goes somewhere where she can have an impact.
FM alums don’t improve much in college
Why is this being downvoted? Like it is actually factual that FM alums don't do anything post high school and it is well known in the elite community. Just cause it's unfortunate and you don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad take

Claire W. was the #1 runner at FM's meatgrinder program for 5 years in a row. Not surprising that she'd plateau or fall off after that; no shame in it, either.
NC State could put 10 runners in the top 50 if allowed
They will put 5 in top 20
Ok won't put more than 3 in top 100... They will not make the podium... They have 0 chance of winning
Go back to predicting Dudeks dominance!
LMAO what are you on? need some of it
Reply wasn't directed at you, I was just responding and you were the last person to comment, I mean it was kind of obvious it wasn't directed at you
With the transfer NC State put six runners in the top 20 national 5K... Another one did good at 10K and they easily have three or four other strong runners who could potentially go top 50 cross country
The guy who's going crazy about Oklahoma State now is the same guy who made the Sophia dudek will dominate thread a couple years ago
He's also the same guy who said that three girls will break 9:30 in the high school 2 mi a couple years ago
He basically just writes crazy stuff on here every year and switches to a new topic... It would be funny if he was trolling but he's actually serious and believe the stuff he writes at least but the time being

bud were on the same fan page, thought im famous in here, i guess not
well if this is a conversation about Claire, I'm going to discuss that.
I don't think Claire transferring really impacts their chances at another title. Claire wasn't in the top 7 last year and it didn't look like she competed much in the last couple of years.

NC State has more quality depth in women's XC than any team in the country.
Tuohy, Chimel, Shaw, Bush, Allie Hayes, Quarzo have all been All-Americans and are returning.
Starliper (Finally healthy), Nevada Moreno, Heather Holt, Howlett and LaTour have all been All-ACC.
Tennessee transfer Sydney Seymour (All-American in 5,000), Fr. Brooke Rauber, Alyssa Hendrix and Jenna Schulz (Both HS Foot Locker & Nike All-Americans).
Tough top 7 to crack. Claire made a decision that is best for her career.

NC State fan here. Agree on your general point about the Wolfpack having a lot of depth. But I'm pretty sure Allie Hays is out of eligibility. She's not on the current roster. Everyone else you mentioned should be on the team this year. Starliper just missed being 1st-team All-American in the 5000m outdoor a couple months ago, finishing 9th.

Allie Hayes is out eligibility in XC but does have at least a indoor season of eligibility.
States 8-14 would probably finish top 3 or 4 at ACC’s

^ unless you are an absolute STUD don't bother going to NC State anytime soon. Not much money left, the team is young and deep. Lots of quality runners pacing workouts and sitting in Raleigh cheering on the team.
