6 Oswego East guys under 16:15.
Well, with the transfers Carmel and Center Grove got, and the insane race Carmel had yesterday, I think it will be hard for any team other than these two to qualify for NXN
Plainfield south off to a good start but were missing 3 of their top 7.
what happens if they had them
york just ran their first race. Swept 1-7 which is good.
their top 7 all ran 19 minutes though
Plainfield South had a good top 5 in this race. 1-3 are coming back next year. They better work on finding a number 4 and 5 for next year if they want to win a title next year.
Hinsdale central needs a fifth if they really wanna win state
So…..
looks like Plainfield South’s #7 has a faster 3 mile than Hinsdale Central’s #4

How is Sandburg not on this list?
I know they lost 3 guys but they do return 4 and found a fifth. And they won last year
I’d take York out for now until they prove that they belong there instead of having the whole team run 19 minutes
I mean yeah York was probably doing a speed workout or something but they did lose 6 guys from varsity last year, and only finished like 8th
Wheaton Warrenville South wins this meet.
To the guy with the Nike Mewman username who said about a month ago that mentioning Benet as one of the top teams in the state was a joke… they just got second today at the Joliet Steelmen Invite over Oswego and Plainfield Central (both state qualifiers last year) and we’re only behind a FULLY LOADED York squad by about 20 points. They were able to get there entire team under 17 on that tough Channahon course which is pretty impressive considering York kids that have gone all state in the past have only run 16:30-16:40 there. Benets #1 Finn Richards ran 15:48, ahead of any York guy. Everyone has severely underrated this team and it shows
The Wheaton Tigers are also severely underrated. Josiah Narayan is going to be a straight weapon come the postseason, he’s been steadily progressing from just breaking 10 this past spring to now running in the 15:20s. Him and Nathan Virginelli are going to be strong contenders to break 15 and earn all state honors come November. This team has definitely just about completely rebuilt itself from the glory days of 2017–19 with a solid pack behind those two as well, so don’t be surprised to see these guys crack the top 10 at the state finals
Plainfield South looked absolutely stellar at FTTF. Vigers 14:22 W, 3 sub 15, 4 under 15:01… these guys are the REAL DEAL
i remember back 22 years when Scott Bush, Tony Jones and Mike Newman were trying to cover Illinois XC in a somewhat competitive, somewhat collaborative method. It is cool that all three have been able to make a decent living from the sport all the way to the present.
