This guy is one tough sob! Has not raced well in the last couple of years, bad Olympics. I thought he might be done and he does the work and runs a great race. Just impressive!
I find it very interesting how this dude can go from almsot last in the Olympics, struggling performing for the last few years to this.. and everyone is all, this is a great comeback story, proud of him, and yeah yeah yeah, he got better from running tough workouts and more miles… whereas we get any female who goes from better than good to achieving some PRs and it’s all.. they are surely doping, doping, doping… so I’m just curious, how this man can make a great comeback and not once in 3 pages be accused of doping, but any of the top Americans women have a breakout performance and they’ll be accused of doping within 5 posts…
why the double standard?? Why can the male make a comeback and it’s not questioned, but all the females are doped??
We also get Rojo starting threads about the marathon asking if Rupp can ever outrun the Salazar past, when the exact same question should be asked about Levins.
I think it just goes to show the irrational hate Rupp gets/the irrational pass others get. Come on, at least be consistent. Levins was trained for a long time by Salazar, side by side with Rupp.

This is a ridiculous comparison because Levins did not thrive under Salazar. OK, I guess he got a Commonwealth bronze. Woo? He wasn't Salazar's boy and went backwards with him.

Dude, Cam has been a 2:07 (or faster) Marathoner for many years. It just took him a while to nail it.
I'm blown away by his comment about feeling that he is in 2:05-2:06 shape on the start line. Mr Levins is way ahead of all of us in his thinking/attitude. Who wants to bet that he won't do 2:05 or 2:06 in the twilight of what is now looking like a long career?
I want to find that Oct 2018 thread where he did 2:09:25 on his first try, in cold/breezy weather, on a not-fast course, breaking the 43 year old national record. I'm sure I'm in there somewhere saying HE IS A 2:07 GUY.
How much time did he gain by wearing Alphaflys vs Hoka? i say 5-10 sec per mile. Anyone know if he is unsponsored? he was wearing nike socks too, so either back with nike or no deal and wore the best shoe he could buy.

Was in Toronto for that race. Not a fast course at all, not great conditions at all and he did it in old Hokas with no plate or next gen foam. Stick some alpha flies on him that day and I could see him going sub 2:08 right then and there. Put him at Berlin in that shape and he would have gone even faster.
Very Happy for Cam. Not surprised by this performance as it was a long time coming, just worried somehow it might never come.
Ryan Hall's fastest race was a 2:06:17. Boston doesn't count. Hall probably would have been 2:06:low/mid without the illegal tailwind
And Rupp ran faster than Hall, a 2:06:07. And almost faster in Chicago (2:06:21). So, he ran 2:06 twice.
And Levins ran 2:07.
And is Levins even white?
How can you be so ignorant? There is someone else than Ryan Hall and Rupp that has run faster than them both. Hint: he isn't American, I guess that is why you are so clueless.
Great race by Cam, wow, 170-180 MPW in training!!!!
Wonder how many people will let that sink in?
It'll probably still go over their heads. I've run up to 150 miles in one week and could see doing 170-180 with triples, but most people here still don't know why they get injured at 50. It's mindset. (And no, I'm not slow)
