Felix was in better shape than that. She misjudged her run and died.
There’s not much evidence for that.
Felix, for all her greatness, stayed exactly one year too long. Just like Usain Bolt did. Good thing is she left it all out there. Bad thing is she hurt her team doing that. At the end no one will remember this race but it would have been nice to have finished differently.
Lol I stated that I misspoke, calm down. Nevertheless, my question is still the same. Who do you run, besides Wadeline, without compromising that runner's performance in their individual race and potentially women's 4x400 final
You make Felix run the prelim and the final because it's her only event. Then you put in Mu or Syd or Diggs in fresh for the final. They get the baton with a 20 meter lead and they can jog to an easy gold medal.
Clearly they were afraid of even making the final with that strategy
Geez. Everyone called this a joke event or not a real event when it was introduced. Now y’all are whining about getting 3rd
It's still a joke event. I didn't watch this particular race, but other mixed relays I've watched only highlight exactly how much faster the guys are than the ladies. Even one of the intro-promos for the meet shows some poor lady being smoked by several guys.
For some of the runners on other teams, the mixed 4x400 is likely their only chance for a gold medal for themselves and their country, And that may include Bol also.
Since this relay happens on the first day of the meet, there is no guarantee that any of those potentially faster US runners would want to be on the team, even if asked. This is unlike the 4x400, where everyone would say yes since its the last event.
It comes down to the mixed 4x400 just isn't a priority for the U.S. We are all going to forget this in a couole of days.

Felix split 50.1. Britton Wilson split 48.8 earlier this year. Here is the video if you haven't seen.
You could have used almost anyone and gotten a better leg. but even saying you couldn’t get mu , Steiner or McLaughlin you have someone like raevyn Rogers who would have gotten the job done who won’t be on the womens 4x4.
I didn’t realize until looking now the womens 400 hurdles prelims aren’t even until the 19th and the 800m is the 20th. McLaughlin or mu would have had all the recovery in the world. what a laughably poor decision by team USA.
Under the new rule, only one person from the prelims can be replaced.
The A squad is not running, it is not surprised they lost.
I guess due to her age/deference to her Felix is the one who came in…But if purely trying to win having her jog a 51 in the morning and having Steiner come in for Simon and win an easy gold medal would’ve been the move. 2 full days off until the 200.
Mu isn't running until Day 7, she had more rest than any other possible prospect.

JOKE EVENT
Know you're a troll but the faster women for the other countries actually won this one for them.
I agree that it is a joke. I woukd rather not enter a team at all than get 3rd like this. If it is a real event, Mu and Mclaughlin would have asked to run it and they would have run it. The only excuses provided are that people need to be fresh for other events. But if this is a real event, they would have wanted to run it. The other logic would be like skipping am individual event to save yourself for the 4x4.
