Cross training isn't new. In 1987 trained with an athlete that didn't run from December to the end of March. He did cycling and pool running. 3 weeks after starting to train again he ran 1:47 for 800m. In September he was the world 1500m champion.
Every elite athletes cross trains when they get injured but most don't continue as the belief forever is that nothing replaces running. I recently coached an athlete who missed two months of running and cross trained and yes 6 weeks after running 15:25 for 5k but do you think she wants to hop on the bike or the elliptical.....nope no matter how much I try to encourage it.
Always an interesting topic and debate. I think there is something to it.
My username is funny because of people like you on these boards who take everything literally. Thank you for demonstrating that. Also I didn’t say anything evaluative in my original post, I am genuinely curious because I don’t coach full time and was wondering if there was a good explanation or idea about why it’s working. Thanks for your input!
I don't know if it is a bug in the position setup, but in order to go to the time stamp in my browser I have to click the header below the video, not the video thumbnail, Anyone else notice this?

What I find in YT is if you watch a piece of a video it knows where you left off so if you go back to video that is where it starts. Not sure if that is what is happening with you.
There are videos of her training as a high school senior. She is significantly leaner and more muscular now compared to high school. So a couple of years of very intense training.

No, its only when I post here. I put it on the timestamp but if you click on the picture part of the link it starts from 00:00.
Parker Valby runs 20+ miles a day when she was healthy.
Post- injury Valby and Cook may not be running as much as others but they are still exerting high amount of effort on a different type of training. The aerobic training works and gives them better fitness, but so does running. Focusing more on aerobic training will result to having slower turnover as those who train more on track.
Also, having to run less is an advantage but that is not something that works always.
“20+ miles a day…”…. Gimme a break. At least make your lie sound realistic
When I watched the race I assumed Valby was a senior. Wow. What a bombshell. I'm in love.
Also what an incredible race from someone who barely scraped into the finals. Epic underdog story. Was rooting for Tuohy, but in hindsight would have been just as happy to see Valby win. Tuohy seems like she snubbed her after the race, could be the birth of a bitter rivalry for the next decade.

That is an interesting take. She ran 15:32 a month ago to get the 5th fastest time in the East Region and then finished 2nd in the Regional. That does not seem like barely scraping into the finals. Did Tuohy snub her or did she snub Tuohy (or more likely neither)? Tuohy was 30 ft from the finish hugging her mom and Roe managed to find her quickly. But one little thing I noticed. 2 straight races Valby insisted on running side by side with Tuohy and seemed to crowd her on every turn. That might irritate her. But, again I doubt there is anything there.
I don't think that Tuohy has any animus towards Valby other than "WTF...where did SHE come from?" Tuohy was keying off Roe but got a lot of this new kid instead, a little disorienting, perhaps.
