Yep!
I'm not sure which was worse -- skimming the thread, not watching the video carefully, or picking a snark user name.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to eat the rest of my crow offline.
Just you wait...
Ah hell!

I think the MF was sarcastic. I don't think he has a prayer to make the team or even finish in the top 6. But sometimes you take a step back before you move forward again. I think he'll eventually be a super stud, 3:33 or better, or maybe truly great. He still has lots of time and I think he and those around them are patient. The goal, IMO, should be working toward '23 and '24 U.S. teams and, especially, '27 and '28 teams.
Warhurst knows how to peak his runners. Nick Willis is proof of that. He will be ready at USAs

This is how unrealistic people are ....Kessler is 19 and two months..he just ran the THIRD fastest U20 U.S. mark of ALL TIME, and that is probably not good enough for all the distance mavens on here. THis is not an infrequently run event , you know.
THIRD..he now has 2 of the top three, go look at that list. I am not sure what people want, its insane, that and the fact they have no idea how a progression can work..It took Webb three years plus to run a mile faster than his HS "One off" because thats what that was. It took 3-4 to get to 3:32.73.
Trust me Hobbs being coached by Warhurst, probably not a better middle distance coach out there. They don’t care what all the trolls say. They have a plan and they stick to the process. I am sure Ron is looking at the long term potential with Hobbs not just what he does this summer. He has the talent as long as he puts in the work and does what Ron says the results will come. My guess is 2024 will be the year he arrived as a top 5 in the World in the 1500
Anybody watch PTF live? Not a good Kessler performance, was he at least in the mix?
Kessler ran 3:36.63 at Pre
Then 3:37.26 at Portland, where he really raced well until last 170 where he stalled, he was in 3/4 looking very good , then a bunch of guys went by. I am objective, the good thing about this, is he was engage ed right up front the whole way until late.
I still thinking guys like you need a perspective. Kessler has now run 4 of the top 7 U20 U.S. times of all time, like I have said, it does not have to look linear in improvement. Last year he ran one time under 3:40 flat. This year he has run three races under 3:39.00 in 4 weeks. I would think making a U.S. Final at 19 would be good, but tons of those on here think if he doesn't run 3:33.5 he did not improve..I would think making a final or running a good race out there would be improvement.
I think for all the "he should have gone to college folks?" Kessler would have two of the top 6 fastest 1500's run this year, and of the other guys, most are 22 at least. Some 23.
That's all I am gonna say, so fire away. I think and know it is going fine, this is a longer game than a hopeful HR hit once..does anyone think Hocker is running 3:30 this year? That would be him improvong...

I think the argument is that if you are not going to be 334s, you are better off in college where you can get experience racing. And aren't shoe deals classic NIL?
Now we have a lot of people who don't run better freshman year than college. Go down the sub 4min HS kids and it isn't like most of them were slicing a couple seconds off the next year. I wouldn't start panicking until he is still running these times next year. And heck he might just be a couple weeks behind schedule.

He ran A TIME, that is what he was one day. He was much more like a 3:37-8 guy who caught it once. Its hard to get back to that no matter what anyone on here thinks. I think making a U.S. Final at where he is in his development, would be a really good result. There are a lot of guys who are way older, and doing this for a while, that are running solidly now.
Maybe the worst take I've seen in 20+ years on letsrun.com.
He was really a 3:37-3:38 guy when he ran 3:34. Simply amazing a person thought that would be a reasonable thing to write.
So sounds like he ran competitively but didn’t have a good finish? That’s better than the alternative of just not being involved in a 3:35-6 race
Like you would have a clue how to analyze any of this. Go back in your hole and look up more posts from me to abuse..LOL
You are clueless and always will be, post under another name next time..LOL, some of you need to be more creative seriously
THOUGHTSLEADER...That is exactly right, he could not have been in a better spot at 1200 and all the way to about 1330? But the race IS 1500 LOL.., I am not that big a woulda coulda guy really, so I have to be fair about it, he slowed, got walled off and never recovered, a poor last 140. But it was not a soft, way off the back run a little bit late to look good and go home,
I would expect something a little bit better, next time out

Hobbs was out of his comfort zone sitting in the top 3 most of the race. He is usually sitting in the back half of the pack. I think he got discouraged when he started getting passed. The top 3 finishers were in the back half the first half of the race. He probably could’ve ran much faster if he chilled with Nuguse and Fisher in the back the first half.
Wait a doggone minute. This is most definitely worthy of a MF post subject line. 3:36 at just turned 19 is rare. This kid is one of the top 3 most talented American milers period. I wouldn’t doubt he runs 3:32 this year at 19.
My man

Eh. Those guys closed in 55-56 right? If Hobbs had a good race he’d be closing in 56-57 even while near his PB. You don’t get discouraged if you’re fit enough to limit the end-of-race damage.
