Agreed. It very difficult to go after a 13:30's for a HS athlete. Especially right before the Bowerman Mile. I don't know for fact, but would think they are getting ready for his Mile and getting very specific.
2 weeks ago Colin's coach said that Colin will not be running a 5k, and would be only running 800 - mile for the rest of this season.

His 3:39 is better than 3:57.97, right? Especially with a 55 last lap.
My prediction is 1:47.9 for Colin and 3:41 for Lex. Colin seems faster now and is approaching his peak race, and Lex's 3k/5k is worth ~ 3:40-42.

You mean a national U20 championship track and field meet? We do have one. Why isn’t the USATF Junior champs the national meet? I guess because you want only high schoolers to compete? But some of them are in the last year of U20 eligibility anyway.

If you are adjusting for lap splits, then adjust for lack of drafting and lack of competition also. Both guys are capable of faster.
