Mike will likely lose a chunk of money in a lawsuit. He needs to know better. All he had to do was notify a flight attendant. That is their job. The kid is a punk, but he will get a nice paycheck out of it. He's probably looking at a five-figure settlement.
Would you awards a large judgement to an obnoxious drunk that wasn’t injured? Why do you think anyone else would?
The drunk might win in court, but even if he did since it was clear he was the instigator the award would likely be very small. In other words, a technical win, but a material loss. The drunk might not even win in court since there was video and eyewitnesses.
This is one of those situations where you can't officially condone Tyson blasting away at this guys face with a storm of fists. But you want to.
^^^^^ We have a winner.
If he hadn't been caught, we'd all be thinking "that guy deserved it."
The world is going to suck in like 50 years when your entire life is probably filmed by a drone. You won't even be able to self-pleasure without it being caught on tape.
Well it is clear that Rojo and many of you condone violence on an airplane. That much we know.
The guy is drunk and being a total a-hole to Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson keeps telling him to leave him alone, and when the guy finally gets what he has coming to him, he goes to the police?
What is wrong with people? He got punched and he deserved to get punched.
So Chris Rock deserved to be punched? I see how it is.
Honestly, I don't have much sympathy for the guy. This is like a guy walking up to someone on the street who's brandishing a firearm, harassing them, then being surprised when they get pistol-whipped after repeatedly telling them to stop. Is it illegal? Yeah. Did the guy deserve it? Yeah. It's hard to feel bad for the guy who got punched by one of the most famous fighters of all time after harassing them, especially when Tyson didn't resort to violence immediately.

All Mike has to do is counter-sue the guy.
- Harassment.
- Assault & battery (throwing water bottle)
- Civil suit for creating unsafe conditions on a flight.
- Putting Mike at risk of physical harm by bringing too much public attention to a celebrity on a flight & putting the celebrity at risk of physical harm from multiple other random passengers who could possibly decide to jump in and try to fight the celebrity, especially a tough guy celebrity who is known for fighting.
- Monetary compensation for causing Mike's professional/celebrity reputation to suffer & the resulting financial consequences thereof, losing potential endorsements, speaking engagements, appearances, etc.
- Whatever else the legal team can dream up.
- The lawsuits can also include the guy having to pay for Mike's legal fees, ha!
Mike can bury the guy in legal costs. If the guy is smart, he will realize he has nothing financial to gain, that he will waste time in court instead of working and earning money, and that he will be publicly humiliated by looking like a huge jacka$$.
Better for Mike to lose a few bucks paying for his legal team to do this, that allow some loser to take money from Mike.

Agreed. There are a lot of things today that people will get in a ton of trouble for, that years ago would have never made the news. Some for better (me too movement), some for worse (this).
Everyone knows someone that just needs to get their asz beat one time to put them in check. Nothing to seriously hurt them, just to keep them from harassing people and thinking they won't see any ramifications. If you disagree with what that, I hate to break it to you, but you're the person that needs to get a few punches.
If this dude has medical expenses, I think Tyson should pay for those, just because those punches probably hurt a good bit more than the harassment. Other than that, honestly who cares. It's literally poking the bear and finding out what happens.

This thread is really revealing. Many of you have confessed implicitly that it would be OK if one of us beat the hell out of one of the trolls here who is annoying AF. Especially if the troll repeatedly annoyed us despite warnings. You folks have been exposed.

Rock made one joke. Hardly continuous harassment.
That said, we have an idea of how stupid the guy is that Tyson hit since he was stupid enough to pester MIKE TYSON!

Why are you people so weak and thin skinned? I realize now that harassment is too much for you snowflakes, which is why you defend Tyson here. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words also are turning me into a victim who cannot control myself. This is who some of you people are.
As someone who is significantly smarter than you, I am asking you to explain why Tyson is justified in resorting to physical violence and Will Smith is not. Answer the question instead of disparaging your superior.
Okay kids...
Obviously neither was justified, but the difference is airplane guy went to the police. Chris Rock specifically said he didn't want to press charges. He was also slapped and not punched. Both are assaults but different levels. The bottom line here, right or wrong, is you don't mess with The Champ. He will still destroy 99.999% of living humans in one 45% power punch.
Airplane guy did not go to the police. The airline personnel called the cops. The guy who got punched so far does not seem to be cooperating with police.

nope. Mike can easily bring a six-figure lawsuit, see my above commentary. Plus, Mike's team can argue self-defense on punching the guy. The guy was aggressive and harassing. The guy escalated when told to stop. The guy committed assault and battery. Now we have an escalating situation where who knows how far the guy will go. Plus, this is in public (and in a confined space where Mike has no option to get away) and there is a definite possible risk where third-party general public people can start to act crazy and try to also jump in and fight the celebrity fighter. This has happened multiple times before, to multiple known pro fighters, so they can argue a valid need for Mike to defend himself in order to prevent a potentially dangerous escalating situation.
Annoying someone is not a crime. Punching someone in the face is.
There is a button in every seat--even in first class--that allows you to hail an employee who can fix this situation without the risk of jail time.
People here are saying the person who unwittingly followed the premise of Will Smith's "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson" (how's that for irony?) deserved it. But the only evidence we have are anecdotal reports. There is video of Tyson wailing on him.
I think Iron Mike should cut down to a maximum of two toads per day:
I would say it depends on how one is being annoyed. If I am out in front of your house with a loudspeaker at 2am annoying you, then I am disturbing the peace which is pretty much a big case of being annoying.

Where is the evidence that the guy assaulted Tyson? We hear about a water bottle. Have you seen the water bottle? You do understand that Tyson’s people are thr ones talking about a water bottle. Is there any evidence of this?

Mike can sue the airline for allowing a situation that was unsafe for him, to escalate and become more unsafe & dangerous. If Mike ends up having to pay the guy, Mike can sue the airline for that amount plus.
Mike can also go to the police and press charges. See my above commentary.

Why do you keep posting and posting like taking satisfaction in Tyson giving a few lumps to a clown makes us bad people. I think you should be slapped around a little. How's that? That what you want to hear?

I am exposing you for who you are. It is not a pretty sight. It is amusing as hell to me also because many of you couldn’t fight your way out of a paper bag but here you are acting all alpha behind a keyboard. So to me it is pathetic that you are likely so ill equipped to fight yet you are such advocates for violence.’This renders you pathetic.

Lol. Of course I haven't seen the water bottle. What do I know? I'm assuming there's a water bottle, because there is discussion indicating that a water bottle was thrown. I assume that there are multiple witnesses on the plane who can say whether a water bottle was thrown.
IF the only thing that happened is some guy acted like a jerk and Mike punched him, then Mike's in the wrong and could be sued. I'd be surprised if that's what happened, based on how we've seen Mr. Tyson conduct himself in other situations, relatively recently I mean, not 30 years ago as a young man.
Why do you ignore the key issue? The moron threw a water bottle at Tyson. That actually can be a crime - assault and/or battery. You can defend any strictly verbal "annoyances," but if you throw something at somebody they can usually punch your lights out. Had. It. Coming.

100% agree. Mike Tyson was harassed and the moment the guy touched Tyson that counts as assault. Tyson was in the right and will win in court. This is the problem with the younger people today they think they can get away with anything. Tyson is actually a decent guy he just wanted to be left alone and the guy was being disgusting to him.
I don't disagree with Tyson's reaction in this specific situation, but . . . "decent guy?" Serio? You do know he is 1) a convicted rapist and 2) bit a man's ear off. Decent don't fly here.
