I basically left this website a few months ago but checked back today because I saw a tweet about NCAAs. So happy I left this hell hole. You people are so negative and pathetic. Goodbye again.

Amen.
All the negative people will always live in envy of others as the greats will keep winning and changing loves.
I see some posters here and at other threads that call into question Brosnan's coaching, that he was remarkably blessed by two extraordinary families, and that once they're gone his program will be no better than most others. The success of the NPHS is both talent and coaching. IIRC, Colin Sahlman ran a 4:16 mile as a freshman at Arcadia. That's real talent. And I think the Young Bros had some nice times prior to coming to NPHS. But when I talk about coaching it's not just the workouts, it's his ability to organize the program, encourage interest, etc. Prior to Brosnan coming to NPHS there wasn't much success there. Even now the non-distance part of the NPHS T&F team is not all that great. NP is not known as a hotbed for great athletics. The surrounding schools, like Thousand Oaks H.S., have historically had a much better T&F team, including distance, than NPHS. So what changed? Brosnan's arrival. There's no question that coaching without talent doesn't go far. But the talent has to desire to connect with a good coach. I'm not suggesting that other coaches are not equal to Brosnan, probably even in his area. But whether you want to call it arrogance, cockiness, or just passion and dedication he has put together a nice program that I'm sure other coaches will try to emulate. Assuming he stays at NPHS once the two families have graduated there will be a fall off from the great heights but not a crash and burn. Kids will continue to go there and Brosnan will consistently produce good XC teams and very good, though maybe not great, distance runners.

Changing lives is hilarious. Winning a race doesn’t change anyone’s life
Letsrun wouldn't exist at all if that were actually true. Think about it. Winning a race has changed an immeasurable number of lives all over the world. Inspiration can go a long way in the right place at the right time. I will never forget the first race I won and how it felt and made people react around me. A race can change your life and not just yours.
