14:26 for Sahlman
It'll be a fascinating science experiment to see how the Newbury kids do in college. It's obvious they have a lot of talent, but even more obvious they're extremely well trained.
I'm really surprised. 0 of the kids broke the record. Was the pace too fast to start? I know it's an incredible record but I figured at least 1 of these boys would break it.

GF record stands. Sahlman almost did it. Yet another team record for NBP. Sixth runner 15:15 and seventh 15:40!
NBP: 14:26,14:28,14:30,14:46,15:11,15:15 and 15:40! Wow!!
1,2,3,4,7,9,26
1. Colin- 14:26
2. Leo- 14.28
3. Lex- 14:30
4. Aaron- 14:46
7. Daniel- 15:11
9. Hector- 15:15
26. Dev- 15:40
I was too fast on all. 5sec Colin, 3 & 4 seconds Young Bros, 13 seconds Aaron, 19 seconds on Daniel, 13 seconds o. Hector and I don't wanna talk about Dev!

German is a beast

NP top 4 at 4:32, then their 5 and 6 back at 4:37
Is that a misprint? Their top 4 hit the mile in 4:32 in an XC race? Holy Good GOD this team is good. As someone else mentioned, my HS team had one or two kids faster on the TRACK, period.
Looking at the results and taking the weather and to consideration I actually think Newbury Park's team boys and girls were a bit off today hard to believe but I don't think they fired on all cylinders
The warmer weather slowed them down a bit. Not more than 10 seconds but enough to take away any chance at the CR. The top 3 are all very close to German level.
Also most underestimate Germans ability in high school. I think he is number two all time behind LV and tied with Ritz.

German also wasn't racing in vaporflys.

German's 14:24 Woodward is also probably the second greatest individual HS XC performance ever, behind Ritz's 14:10 MI state win. Other contenders are Craig Virgin's 13:50 (and LV's 13:53), Sarah Baxter's absurd 2012 NXN win, and Ritz and LV's 2000 and 2010 FL wins respectively...but 14:24 solo at Woodward is otherworldly.

German hit the first mile in 4:27 during his record run and he was completely solo.
Fantastic run by the NP fellas today.
I’m sure German is smiling down watching that race, knowing that his record still stands.
Since this is California state meet thread. I’ll say the best race of the day was the 11th place finish for L. Soobrian of Los Altos HS, CCS in 18:03. In the D1 race.
Soorbrian ran 4:58 1600 in early 2020 as a freshman. Then she disappeared from results until about 5 weeks ago. Don’t know if she was hurt or a different sport, swimming? In 5 weeks she went from 3rd runner on her team to 11th at the state meet. Wow! That the way to come back.
I hope she stays with running as she is a tremendous talent.

Nobody breaks GF’s insane record, and Aaron Sahlman runs slower than his Clovis time, but Newbury Park breaks the State meet team points record (16), overall Woodward Park time record (73:23), and State meet margin-of-victory record (103 points over Great Oak).
Their team average time (14:41) was 10 seconds faster than any other boy ran on the course all day.
Lex, Leo, and Aaron still have 2022 to try to break the Fernandez record, but today further proved that it’s an absolute beast of a record.

I seem to recall it was mid 70s when German ran his record. Can anyone remember more accurately?

Some of you guys are obsessed with the effects of coaching but the NP kids would just as good at hundreds of other HSs. Their coach won the lottery twice to have such talented sets of brothers run there.

Do you really believe that? You think that a lot of coaches could score 16 points in the biggest division in the biggest state just because of the talent?
No chance. Brosnan seems like a huge douche but clearly has the coaching elements right.
