Interesting that NC women were almost exclusively FR eligibility.
Except they weren't. And with Covid they're all got an extra year anyway, so Tuohy isn't really a frosh and you can add an extra year to almost everyone else. More interesting that the Pack is so good this year, they have zero true freshmen running.

I am a fan of both of them. It is great to see KT back to running awesome again, but it is nice to see Kelsey Chmiel in the spotlight. That poor girl was probably the most under-recognized high school super star ever. I even remember comments on this board when KT chose NC State to the tune of "poor Kelsey can't escape Katelyn's shadow". There was even the year that Sydney Masciareli was widely acknowledged as the #2 runner just because she won Footlocker, even though she was no where near Kelsey. I am just glad she is having some time in the sun.
This has been a fun season to watch with NC State girls. Chmiel, Touhy, and Steelman are all top notch runners and could be their top girl on any given day, but they seem to be so much better and happier together as teammates.
I also think Steelman is going to show up big at nationals. Just a hunch, but she seems to be one of those runners who finds something extra when it's most important. Regardless, NCAA nationals are going to be really interesting this year!

NC State battered by injuries, only Flavin’s looked good. UVA awful this year (lost to Penn two weeks ago). VT only has Lopez Segura. UNC led by Wolfe, Anderson is a wild card. FSU Wildschutt-Muhumed duo not as useful in a small race. Duke has a good pack. ‘Cuse is on if Dragon and Trojan are. Wake will have some previously absent members back in the mix today, though still have a couple key guys out. ND unbeatable, will potentially have 5 in the top 10.
FSU goes 1-3 and only finishes 5th as a team 2 points ahead of 6th.....terrible showing for them
Braman's got to be pleased to have not only Wildschutt running fantastic last year and this--winning everything this season, I think--and then getting Muhamed to third in a competitive conference is a real feat.
Tremendous depth from ND, 8 in the top 19. There are some coaches who should be looking in the mirror if they're not just thinking, they prioritize track or just started building their programs, namely, UVA and Vin and Louisville and Heins with a national championship at NAU but just getting started. Miami, though, needs a new coach. Ridiculously bad results, 27-28 minute guys for high D1 is unacceptable.
UNC men are coming around, some real talent there. Va. Tech is down. The course played almost as fast as FSU's course, suggesting the criticism isn't warranted.
How was uva so bad this season? A ton of hype. When was last time uva was so far back at ACC?

Completely agree with this comment. Chmiel is a beast, but always was somewhat overshadowed. She never seemed to get the recognition she deserved, but was always on KT’s heels. I agree that she was easily the 2nd best runner in the nation when in HS.
Very glad to see her doing so well…but it is not at all surprising.

Not to mention that I modified "FR" with "eligibility" to make a clear distinction between athletics and academics.

I think you mean FSU went 1,3
1-3 indicates they had the top 3 positions

Oops! I did indeed misread your message. Sorry. I just saw the NC and automatically thought State. You could be right about UNC, not as familiar with that team.
But kind of an outsized reaction on your part to an innocent mistake. Hope your day's improved.
Nice job by the Cuse women’s and mens teams!!
3rd and 2nd respectively. !!
Tuohy in 2nd at a conference as a sophomore seems to be lackluster in her college running. Certainly nothing close to her expectations after her high school races. Another HS burnout?? Seems to be.

What are you high? She was by far the best runner in her grade or younger last year finishing 24th. And she's looking like will do even better this year and has a chance to be top 10. And she is again the best in her class or younger
She just beat one of her teammates who was fifth in the nation last year cross-country and she lost to her teammate who was ninth in the country and is looking like potential Contender or at least top 5 this year
I don't think that is going to hunt. She is showing longevity, which is the difficult part in distance running. The only thing that really matters is getting through the next couple of years without injury. Eat properly and stay healthy and don't be in too much of a hurry.

If you notice, the initial "outsized reaction" was from a friend, but it was you who started the beat down.

7 athletes compete. It looks like there's seven more on the Travel team. Are they all alternates? And then I guess they're about seven more, who are on the team but don't travel? Is that about right? Is that the way most team structure it?
