Do NY restaurants turn away large groups of black people because they don't want to lose white customers? Absolutely.
Absolutely what? Is this something you allege happens daily all over the city? Weekly all over the city? At Carmine's? Where and how often does this occur? How do you know? If you can use ANY more specificity other than "Absolutely," your post would make more sense.
Precious Roy wrote:
Is that what happened here? Maybe, maybe not.
Thanks for nailing it down like that. We were worried you might not have a take on what happened at Carmine's after watching the video. Good grief.
Precious Roy wrote:
Are black people given a pass when they react violently to racial slurs and discrimination? Absolutely not.
You must have been disconnected from mainstream news sources for the entire summer of 2020.
Precious Roy wrote:
Should activists have picked an incident where there wasn't a video of a black person violently attacking someone over vaccine requirements to make a point about vaccine requirements being used as a pretext for discrimination? Absolutely.
Why? You threw out enough idiotic qualifications above ("Maybe, maybe not.") for the Carmine's incident to have no meaning whatsoever in BLM's absolutely frivolous claim that restaurants are using "vaccine requirements [] as a pretext for discrimination." They KNOW people like you will twist in the wind on this stuff. They can pick any incident they want knowing the spin they will get from liberals.
Precious Roy wrote:
Are black people justified in being hesitant to get the COVID vax? Of course they are.
No, they are not. At least not any more than all the other vaccine hesitant people who get (correctly) bashed on these boards every day.
But kudos to you. You have articulated the obvious path to daylight here that I didn't foresee. White vaccine hesitancy = stupid. Black vaccine hesitancy = "Of course they are." Reason for racial distinction between the two? Systemic racism, of course! Voila! Win.
Precious, its okay for you to call an attack, criminal, even when its blacks attacking the worker for doing there job. Your response is really silly to this. No one will call you racist for calling out the attackers.
They were wrong. Anyone who defends them is wrong too!
Precious sides with anti-vaxxers!!!!!!!

They just refuse to cover stories like this.
They should be put in a bad light. They are a joke.
Oh so blacks are justified in being hesitant of the vaccines but Republicans are not. I see how this works.
I think Vaccine mandates are stupid and unconstitutional. I don't see any evidence the intent is racism.
There is no evidence that the restaurant staff did anything racist or would have let the diners in if they were white. The whole racial slur thing seems very made up, as in we assaulted a restaurant worker who was just trying to not get fired for enforcing DeBlausio's stupid rule, let's claim they made a racial slur to excuse our behavior. Just calling it like it is. Also funny how all these examples of RRRAAACCCIIISSSMMM always seem to come from the most progressive places, while rube's in the midwest all seem to get along with each other fine.
I see a simple solution here. The government should stop segregating the population based on their willingness to get a Vaccine. Problem solved. If it is of vital importance to do this the private sector can do it without the government's prodding. If the private sector decides this is not necessary, it probably isn't. Doesn't this seem way to rational.
1) Looking forward to a combined white nationalists and BLM march.
2) No one is "rounding up" the unvaccinated.
3) Kinda glad to see nuttiness from more sides.
4) Being unvaccinated in an inner city seems like a poor decision. At least in the South and the West one can make an argument about not being around people a lot. (Not a great argument.)
as a Federal employee I've joke out sneaking up and jabbing the unvaccinated. I've laughed at the Herman Cain Awards
I also know federal employee who are right wing nut jobs who have said terrible things about the poor or who have said slurs against non-christians .
What's your point?
Who is 2600bro?

I have wondered about this counterfactual: What if Trump had won in 2020? (Don't get excited those of you who think he actually did win.)
Would there the folks most hesitant be on the left? Kamala Harris early on made a statement about not being sure about a vaccine approved by the Trump FDA. Would the M-GA crowd have lined up for jabs?
One piece of evidence against the last idea is that Trump got boo'ed when HE told a M_GA crowd to get vaccinated. That pretty much put an end to him ever suggesting that again.
I think the hesitancy amongst blacks would be the same.

Ok, I have to ask...
What part of the Bill of Rights do you think they are trying to rewrite?

I actually agree with BLM for once. Even as a POC I thought they were over the top and their founders aren't even African-American (I believe they are two white women).
But in this case, they have legit points on the vaxes from a liberty standpoint. Although I feel vaxes are personally helpful and useful, it is not my right to tell others to get them or not get them.
Would you support a private business establishing this standard? That is a business requiring proof.

The cognitive dissonance in liberal minds spikes here. Is there a multi-nuanced way to reconcile all this? I don't see even a winding path to daylight.
Good. Rich elite stupid arrogant liberals will lose this war. They will try to eat half of their voters alive in the process. People are waking up to the delusional arrogance of the elite left. Their game is nearing an end and will collapse completely when they start trying to use force to get their way. This time is rapidly approaching. Hang on good people.

There's a very small section of centrist types in favor of vaccine passports for everything. Others are pragmatic and accept for international travel or working with vulnerable people it's sensible.
I'm of the opinion proving vaccination status for things like bars and restaurants is a minor inconvenience, I already have to prove age for entry. But I don't want it to be a long-term thing or to have my status recorded by every place I visit.
BLM are just highlighting they don't want vaccination status used as an excuse to turn away black people if the restaurant is more lenient when asking white customers about theirs.

Oh man, you're good at divining what BLM was truly saying in between the lines. This makes MUCH more sense now, because we know of the dozens, if not hundreds, of instances where restaurants (for examples, Carmine's) were waiving vaccine card requirements for whites but enforcing it for blacks. It was Jim Crow lunch counters all over again!
I'm glad you got to the bottom of this, because I thought it was just a bunch of hysterical jackasses threatening more violence over exaggerated claims of racism.
They won't let it become another racist practice. If we're having passports we're enforcing them equally.
“We’re putting this city on notice that your mandate will not be another racist social practice. Black people are not going to stand by, or you will see another uprising. And that is not a threat. That is a promise,” she continued. “The vaccination passport is not a free passport to racism.”
Black Women’s March co-founder Kimberly Bernard added, “We are serving notice on the mayor, on the governor, on the restaurant industry that we will not allow for you to use this pandemic, vaccination cards, and masks as another reason to be racist, to put us in prison — because there’s enough of us in there.”
The Left created this monster. Black people are not as dumb as the Left would like.
