Last lynching was in 1961 in USA.
yeah, things are much better.
Whether or not things are BETTER now was not the question. The question was about craziness.
We are in a state of craziness I have never seen in my lifetime, BUT, despite the craziness (because most of the craziness doesn't actually affect me or most people in a tangible way), today's world is better than ever. I would not want to go back in time to live at any time other than now. Our medicines are better. Our technology is better. Our entertainment options are better. Our quality of life is better. We have moved away from that racist symbol, the Confederate Battle Flag. We have more women and POC in politics than ever before.
It is the best time in the history of the world to be alive...it just unfortunately coincides with a ton of stupid crazy people out there.
I do wonder if race is a major part of the crazy now. Up until the last decade or three we've been a massively white country. There was no question who ran things or who things were run for.
But now we are screeching toward white people being a minority.
This sort of thing is basically unheard of in history, so it's hard to draw parallels. But hard to imagine an ethnic group sliding out of power without going crazy. I think that feeling of losing their ethnostate fuels a lot of the trumpist crazy. They just fall into ethno-politics and trump encourages them to do that.
Scary part is that this demographic trend will only continue and the crazy will keep growing because of it. Maybe human nature forbids a mosaic-type demographic state to go along with democracy.
