Yep. Usually the cutoff is early September. So the fall majors + others in that time period qualify you for both. You don't need to run two marathons if you already hit the time. I'm likely passing on 2022 & signing up for 2023.

They haven’t announced the qualifying window for the 2023 race.

They did along with the 2022 window, back in June:

"The qualifying window for the 127th Boston Marathon, scheduled to take place on April 17, 2023, will begin on September 1, 2021. Registration details for that race will be announced following the 2022 Boston Marathon."

I just qualified, so this is great news. Now I need to decide if I want to run both or just 2023 (or try to at least, I'm 5:20 under the qualifier so if there's a big cutoff I'm out of luck)

That should have read it must have been a real punch in the nuts if any of the 3 people who tested positive were trying to pick up their number.

I mean they could've just gotten vaccinated and avoided the testing altogether.

When we talk about the cutoff for 2022, we have to consider "big window" from September 2019 to November 2021. For example, my female friend age 44, she has 3minutes advantage from the race on November 2019. She wasn't qualified for 2021, but she will be 45 next year and she will have 13 minutes advantage for 2022. I guess quite a lot of runners will get this age group promoted advantage. Even though field size is back to normal, I guess the 2022 cutoff will be as tough as 2021.

It makes sense since the races are only six months apart this time. You've always been able to use a fall marathon to upgrade your starting corral one year and register for the marathon the next. And there's usually been one weekend in September where there's an overlap in qualifying dates and you could use the same race to qualify twice.

Same. And I don't feel bad about it at all.

Because a time can be run at age 44 for a race run at age 46. That is a 10 minute difference for men and women. Same thing for age 54 and 56 too. (60+ age groups too) If you are a squeaker you are out of luck.

I most definitely did not get an invite at -:48. FWIW, I was not signed up for the Virtual, but did officially get the rejection on my original application.

If you signed up for the virtual 2021 race you would have received an email invitation to the in person race back in August. The cutoff moved twice for those that had BQ's but missed the first cutoff of 7:47. The final cutoff was 7:27 in August for those not registered for the virtual race. A friend of mine missed the 7:47 cutoff and the next one but received an invite in August.

True. The three people should have got the vaccine.

They know the field size by now. I'm not sure why they haven't announced it publicly.
