Ad hominem attacks is basically their only strategy. I'm tired of being called a COVidiot or a covid denier. I have two family members who died of covid and know many who have gotten ill. I am not a covid denier. I have been, however, a proponent of the protect the vulnerable approach since the beginning.
The total lock down top down control has accomplished nothing. States and cities that locked down hard have not fared any better than states and cities that did not. Complete eradication of COVID has been a stupid pipe dream since last February. It's not happening.
It's time to give up. COVID is here to stay. Throw in the towel. Humanity lost.

Nowhere in the US has experienced a "lockdown" since about May of 2020.
Everything since then has been targeted attempts to limit the spread of the virus. "Protect the vulnerable" never worked. And never will work. Especially with the high transmissibility of Delta. Vaccines, likely with future boosters against escape variants, beat COVID. That much is clear.
There's a big difference between saying "we should learn to live with some risk of COVID" which is reasonable, and saying, "any attempts to mitigate the virus were ineffective and wasteful." Just talk to a doctor about how bad things got, multiple times in many places, and it's clear many lives were lost due to negligence about the virus.
It would have been long over without all the govt BS
My guess is another 5 to 10 years while the virus mutates to a less dangerous form. If the Russian Flu pandemic was a Coronavirus, as is now hypothesized, it took about that long to weaken and become one of the viruses that cause seasonal colds. I'm prepared for masks and social distancing for that long.

We can argue semantics about the word lockdown but right now in my city vaccination cards are required to go about most of daily life and most workplaces are still remote. Still feels pretty restrictive.
I just don't think it's the government's job to be enforcing these rules top-down. Short term, early in the crisis? Different story. But for the rest of my life every time a new variant pops up or immunity seems to be waning? No.
We should be allowed to make our own choices because we all have different values about what is important to us in life. I have some introverted friends who want to hide in their house forever from COVID. Good for them. My 75 year old uncle wants to spend as much time as he can with his grandkids. He was hospitalize with COVID last year and said he would rather have died of COVID than not see his family. Are you going to tell HIM that he should prioritize mere existence over the thing that makes life worth living to him?

This is probably correct. Hopefully it wont become more virulent, but that's also a possibility.
But if history has anything to say, viruses tend to become more attenuated with time because it's a more successful evolutionary strategy. (Hard to spread to a lot of people if you're inside a corpse. This is why herpesvirus is one of the most successful human viruses of all time - because it's so benign).

Spanish flu, the last real worldwide pandemic, was over within 18 months. No vaxxes.
The drastic measures (wearing masks, closing businesses) and lockdowns were initially promised to be the remedy for the virus and that the short term sacrifice would entail that we could move on back to normal life within 2 weeks. That is a big lie. The disturbing part is these sheep keep adhering to the BS and continuously extended mandates. The "leaders" who ordered two weeks of lockdown in March of 2020 have benefitted from covid hysteria while many innocent citizens have suffered devastatingly (the leaders don't care obviously but they pretend to). It is now obvious to smart people that they will impose vaccine mandates and passes/passports because they just keep pushing the boundaries because the sheep keep giving in and buying into the big lie. The division of society is at a crossroads and mimics various aspects of 1939. The obedient government sheep would all have made loyal Nazi German soldiers if they were a German citizen in 1939. Hitler would have been their hero. I don't mean to offend anyone or equivocate this with world War 2 but I am giving truthful perspective here. They have bought into the system and the shaming tactics of the left (aka you're bad if not vaccinated) while ironically the front is that the leftist leaders are the selfish oppressors. I give them credit, they meticulously divide their manipulation tactics and have an astute understanding of human psychology and groupthink tactics. They know how their predictable sheep will react even before a move is made.
This is a Well known strategy that also works for time trial races. If you habe a 3 mile race just tell yourself its only one mile. Then the same for the second mile and third. With races you just know there will be an end. As do people think now. But politicians will keep extending the race forever
"States and cities that locked down hard have not fared any better than states and cities that did not."
And yet - people in Blue states subject themselves to all kinds of mandates and restrictions that have killed their inner cities and wrecked their children's chances at a normal education.

Again, the ones who used to complain the loudest about restrictions, masks etc are the ones most likely not to do the things that would have slowed and stopped this thing. But, now those who are vaccinated but have to struggle because of the ignorance and stupidity of others are speaking up.
I have a loved one who after undergoing an 8 hours cancer surgery was discharged 18 hours after said surgery because they needed beds for COVID patients. This person was not allowed visitors so she went into surgery by herself and recovered from surgery by herself. You and everybody like you Wazzu are about to start getting what you don't want: heat from people who are doing the right things.
90+% of people in hospitals with COVID are unvaccinated. Incredible how the ignorant don't trust the medicine, the science to prevent the spread but yet go running to the medicine and science when they get it. I'll promise you this, those of us who are doing the right things but yet have to continue to deal with this because of folks like you will not sit back quietly and let it continue to happen. You're about to get a fight you aren't equipped to fight. Buckle up buddy,

No where in the US had a “top down lockdown.” The places that came closest (San Francisco) have fared very very well in terms of COVID deaths.
Lying is fun but you look dumb.

Honestly, how do you muster the courage to roll out of bed every morning?
Mommy?
Hospitalizations in Hawaii are at a new high, with an active mask mandate for 486 days, extremely high compliance and one of the highest vaccination rates in the world.
The hospitalization rate in Hawaii mirrors TEXAS. One lockdown, mandate STATE has the exact same out comes as a FREE state.
So take your mandates and restrictions and go F' yourself!
Nicely of course :-)
Let this sink in - While YOU do everything you can to fight COVID!
I do nothing.......

And that's the thing. You think being smug behind your computer keeps you safe. Hiding in your parents basement is likely the only safe place you will have left. When the fight is brought to your doorstep, you won't be so smug.
Oh yes.
Our friends' sister had Covid. They infected their parents with Covid. Mother and father died of Covid. From my work I know several families where my parents or grandma and grandpa died of Covid.

I live in California and I’ve been working since summer 2020. So idk where you get off claiming this is day 520.
I don’t wear a mask anywhere either, but even if I did, that hardly meets the definition of a lockdown does it?
In the spirit of bipartisanship I say we defer to a politically neutral, national medical entity. Somewhere where rank is determined by education and status in the fields of medicine and virology, not in politics. Ideally led by someone who’s dedicated 40 years of his life to studying virology. And in case he somehow managed to be a totalitarian communist implant in the field of virology, let’s make sure the whole medical community agrees with him, so we can be sure he’s not making stuff up for political purposes. And if somehow him and the rest of our doctors are all communist implants in the field of virology, let’s look at every other country in the world, both our allies and enemies, to see what the true world wide medical consensus is, that way we know it’s not American politics.
Now it could be that the medical community of every single developed country in the world are in fact closet communist dictators who are feeding us bad science, and the only truely science based approaches have been the Taliban and Sweden in the beginning. That could be true, but if it is, we’re honestly already doomed.
One doesn't climb to the top of the civil service ladder (and I use the term "service" loosely), without being a politician and knowing how to service those who can advance you.
"Hiding in your parents basement is likely the only safe place you will have left."
The parents basement joke works only when applied to the left. They are ones that dominate all of the low income categories every single election.
Democrat never take the middle class vote.
They get elected by the "give me free gravy" vote. People like you.
There is not one area in life where you are remotely comparable to me; income, family, happiness, health ect...
You are just a progressive....
An individual’s likelihood of being a Democrat decreases with every additional dollar he or she earns. Democrats have a huge advantage (63 percent) with voters earning less than $15,000 per year. This advantage carries forward for individuals earning up to $50,000 per year, and then turns in the Republicans’ favor — with just 36 percent of individuals earning more than $200,000 per year supporting Democrats.

That's a lie. Hospitals are notorious for having patients occupy a bed without ever officially admitting them. An opportunity for obfuscation. Officially admit the unvaccinated while the vaccinated are brought in under observation status.
Please educate yourself:
"According to a study conducted by Brown University that examined over 29 million Medicare beneficiary records, hospitals are frequently registering elderly patients as being “under observation” rather than admitting them as inpatients. Researchers found that the nationwide ratio of seniors being held for observation versus those who were formally admitted rose by 34 percent over a three-year period."

I hope your loved one recovers 100% and soon.
Now, your threatening tone is misplaced. It is people like you who will soon have to buckle up as you will be faced with a fight you aren't equipped to fight.
Where I live, it has been recently revealed (by government entities, not some random twitter or facebook page) that an estimated 20% of curable cancers have not been detected in 2020 because of the covid restrictions/fearmongering that kept people from even going to hospitals.
The oncologist explained that this means an increase in 20% of cancer-related deaths is to be expected.
1. I would like you to think of 1000 random people. Maybe some people you know will be in there, for sure a few children. Walk up to them and tell 200 of them:
"You will soon die of a cancer that could have been treated were it not for the covid measures I defend."
2. Buckle up buddy. If you were one of the doctors telling my loved one to stay home instead of getting their medical examination, and my loved one ended up in those 200, there would be consequences.
Just buckle up because you're about to get a fight you aren't equipped to fight, and there are millions that have been badly hurt by the likes of you.
