Agree on all accounts. I grew up Catholic and still attend mass from time to time. Webb's brand of Catholicism bears little resemblance to what I know. I'm not Southern, though, so perhaps things are far different down there.

Pretty sweet for the high school kids he'll coaching.
I thought his career trajectory was towards getting a college head coaching job somewhere, but now Webb seems to be transitioning out of coaching and towards priesthood or some type or religious path?
Will this have any impact on the truck repair business?
Transitioning to priesthood was my impression too. One on of Alan's Instagram posts (or interview?) he mentions a goal of achieving sainthood. I don't know how the Catholic church decides to grant sainthood but becoming a priest might help.
To become a saint, you have to perform a miracle and have it recognized by the Catholic Church (usually post-mortum) as such. Webb’s miracle was the American record I guess.

Centro's gold was the real miracle

I don't recall Webb being so outspokenly religious during HS, college, or during his pro career through triathlon. Has he always been so religiously oriented?
Folks, a “saint” is just a person who has ascended to Heaven. So his “goal” as stated is just to go the Heaven.
The Catholic Church also bestows “sainthood” as a posthumous title — the idea is that these are individuals whose status in the afterlife can be understood by their acts during their lifetime.
(If this sounds strange to you, remember that most non-traditional Christian denominations don’t recognize saints at all!)
Also, Webb has a family and cannot be a priest.
I'm pretty sure his wife made him extra catholic. If I recall correctly, she posted some weird ass stigmata thing where her treadmill started bleeding or something. In my interactions with Alan, I think he's genuine, but he's just pretty dumb. He just sounds and acts impulsive and dumb.

University of Arkansas is requiring masks indoors regardless of vax status. I wonder if the Webbs' COVID politics had something to do with the split from U. Ark. Little Rock.
That catholic school is pretty big and puts a lot of emphasis on sports. But I used to work at a similar sized catholic school that had nationally ranked basketball and football programs. The coaches generally made less than at similarly ranked public school programs, but would take the gig because they could recruit players and build a dream team. I think Webb is making a transition into a job teaching religion full time at Catholic school.

Maybe I've been out of the church too long, but wouldn't it be really weird for a non-priest to teach religion at a Catholic school?

If he left because of a mask mandate, then he's going the wrong direction for achieving sainthood. That's not exactly a major sacrifice to mask indoors to prevent the spread of a variant that on average each individual spreads to 8 people. I saw four ambulances today on my run to work here in FL.

Not so common that great runners become great coaches. So it seems to be in this case.
Forget politics and what he did as a runner for a second.
I don't think he is a very good coach. I also think he has some personality flaws that turn poeple off.
Best US miler ever, and can only land a gig at are Little Rock? And then leaves there after producing absolutely no results? Odd to me.
