Yes, sub 14 in Eugene then sub 29 in Brussels then just sub 8 to go.

A sub 8 3K is far more difficult than a sub 14 5k. 13:59 for 5000m is worth about 8:06 or 8:07.
I believe Hassan and Gidey both can run sub-14 (remember Gidey's race at the 15k).
But World Athletics announced that Tsegay and Obiri are also include in the field. If that's true Hassan may refuse the attempt when she will see someone behind her shoulders after 3k.

Lol. Whatever the opposite of fear of competition is, is Hassan.
Pace lights have been installed into Hayward for this meet

I sort of believe a woman could run sub-13 clean. But not sub-8. The WR is beyond belief as it is.

Sub-14, I meant.
If Obiri and Tsegaye are also running this race, Hassan shouldn’t try to break the world record. Because, Tsegaye or Obiri will pass her with a lap to go, and either one of them will become the first woman to go sub 14.
Hassan, don’t be a pace maker (unpaid) for Obiri and Tsegaye

pass hassan? did you not see what happened at the olympics? she absolutely smoked them last lap, and she has much better endurance too. they wont be able to hang on, now way
Hassan is not goood at kicking from the front. Aside from the 1500m in doha, she always losses (when there is a top competitor), when she is the one leading at the bell.
Kicking from the back and kicking from the front, are two different kind of skill sets.

That's only been true in the 1500. When has she led at the bell in a 5K/10K and been outkicked? She doesn't have the kind of acceleration or gear change that some of the middle distance runners have. That’s why she has always pushed the pace or started her drive early in 1500 championship races. She trusts her strength more than her kick.
That's probably the reason she moved up in distance and she has been much more successful at longer distances. All she has to show in the 1500 in two Olympics is a bronze. But she has never lost a 5K or 10K in a championship race.

Ok, I think we are being tough on Hassan. Her kick is great, from the front or back. In the 1500 she’s up against the probable goat at that distance, Kipyegon, so of course, her kick seems a bit less. In the 5 and 10K, it’s a joke, she a bit stronger than the best of her competition, be it Obiri, Tsegay or Gidey, and she’s WAY faster. In those races she can kick them down from anywhere and has no fear. Only Kipyegon is a worthy opponent. Muir was great in Tokyo, but Hassan lost there only because of her workload.

I'm not being tough on her I'm just saying she has been much more successful (and unbeatable) at 5K/10K than 1500.
Here are her championship finishes since 2015:
2015 - 3rd
2016 - 5th
2017 - 5th
2019 - 1st
2020 - 3rd
In those 5 races she is 3-2 against Muir, 1-2 against Dibaba, 2-2 against Simpson, and 0-1 against Semenya. You can chalk it up to bad tactics, being tired, or whatever. And she has employed different tactics at 1500 than in her championship races at longer distances where she was a sit and kick runner.
Don't believe me? Watch Shelby pull away from Hassan like she is standing still. She does not have the change of gear as the best middle distance runners.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-5a6_fv1yI&ab_channel=NLTVAthleticsI forgot that race…..yes, she looks flat footed.
Is this still true of Hassan, 2019 and after? Seems like she’s improved her gear change and top end speed? Anyway, nobody strong enough to hang with her at the 5 and 10 can also kick with her. She’s probably the goat, or will be soon, at those distances. She’s certainly not the goat at the 1500. She’s way more Bekele than El G. I think soon enough she will also be the women’s version of Kipchoge.

I just think Hassan is just naturally a distance runner more than middle distance. She seems to be unbeatable for now in the 5 and 10 and it doesn't seem likely to change anytime soon. Moving up in distance in 2019 obviously helped her in the 1500 with her additional strength. That enabled her to run away from the field at WC because she was just stronger not because her top end speed was better. But Faith has been just as strong this year at that distance and has a better kick.

Thought this would be her aim. I guess the only thing holding her back will be post Tokyo fatigue, but I think she'll break it alright.
Would love to see a sub 14, but my prediction is... 14:02.24.
If she breaks 14:00 she ought to be ready to move up to the mens race. They usually jog it for the first couple of miles.
If she breaks the record it will be as credible as Armstrong's 7 yellow jerseys.

I've never Hassan leading the whole race against Obiri or other top runners (over one mile). Can anyone remind me of that case?
