he probably used them because he has an aggressive forefoot strike

I was thinking just the opposite. Galen did a terrific job for 23 laps. He let himself get boxed in toward the end of the race and he had to slow down (cut his stride). He needed to be in the top 2 or 3 positions with 400m to go and failed to do so. Unfortunately, I believe, Galen has lost a lot of track tactics and savvy.
Mexican food truck was closed this past week. Poor Rupp.

Rupp was absolutely robbed of the podium. He was getting pushed around like a toy out there. Would have loved to see him try to kick with the other bois
Alberto would’ve protested everyone ahead and Rupp would’ve made the team. At all costs.

Well, with the marathon 10 days after the 10K it would be pretty difficult for him to run the 10K if the marathon went terrible.
Ok smartass, i figured the 10k was after, i am pretty sure when rupp doubled in the marathon and 10k n the past that the Marathon was before the 10k. Just because someone is ill-informed doesn’t mean you go for their neck, tell them they’re wrong but don’t be a douche bag about it like a lil hoe
I watched the race and I ain't even seen dat niqqa Glen Ropp til the very end. Good thing he runs the mary cuz he ain't sh.eet in any 10k.
Are you joking? He looked leaner and more defined than any one in the field.

He looked good for a 42.2 guy. What would have Kipchoge managed in the 10K Kenyan trials? Sub 27:30?
Rupp wasn't robbed, he ran a decent race and got an excellent workout in his marathon prep.
I am curious how much the weather affected the pace?
His two track races this spring don't reveal much about the hand he's holding for marathon fitness. I'd love to see him on the podium again in Tokyo but he has a lot to prove. That being said, he will run an excellent race in Tokyo -- he HAS proved that he knows what to do in the Olympics, twice.

I thought I had thin skin. You take the cake. If anyone is being a douche bag, it's you emokid. goldenboy said absolutely nothing that you should be offended by.

You think that he ran a 10k after a marathon in the past? No, the 10k is always before the marathon at the Olympics, the marathon is always the final event of the Olympics. Plus running a 10k a few days after a marathon would be pretty stupid and pointless if it was that way.
Did he say it was his last race at Hayward?

At least the dicks who tripped him didn't qualify either. Good race by Rupp. He's a marathoner now and hung in there strong. Even without the trips, he no longer has 53 closing speed.
+1

ya, good workout for rupp.
pointless to run 10k in the OG, when there is zero change to do anything.
still, to compete in the marathon, you'd want the 10k to be better.
however if rupp is on the upswing, and moving to peak, then all is well.
on the day, you need that full tank of gas, which is elusive for most everyone in the field.
most guys in OG fail to come within 4 or 5 minutes of their PR.
for a regular marathon, if you're not in perfect shape, you simply don't go to the line.
in the OG, you don't have that option,
so it is a crap shoot.
Rupp was there with 400 to go & didn't have the kick regardless of how much you think the tripping impacted him. He's a marathoner now & probably isn't doing the speed work you need to be doing to close fast in a 10k. These two 10k's bode well for the Olympic marathon tho.
