Terrance Laird has scratched from the 100m and will focus on the 200m.
Jo'Vaughn Martin , per his Instagram, has confirmed that he will not compete at trials due to a hamstring injury.

You are correct, Matt qualified in the 200m when he ran 20.06 (+1.7) at the SEC Championships.
IMO good decision by Laird, the 100 is too stacked with real 100 guys.
I would like to see him and Boling do well in the 200. Nothing against the older guys, but it will be fun seeing the two of them run 2 big meets close together.
As for Boling, I hope he runs free. Forget all the bs he has been through, and just go fast and enjoy it instead of trying to prove something by running for his life.
Now that some coaching issues have moved forward, I am thinking that maybe some tension is relieved. I am looking for some improvement from him, and could see a return to 20.0x, maybe even 19.9x-high if the track is fast. But I don’t think that he will make make the team this time around.

it is all about peaking now.
if i got a 9.85 and a 44, then i'd want to do the 200 as well.
boling's series of 100m races can sharpen him.
and on the contrary, too much work flattens the upward trajectory.
laird obviously needs to go with the 200m
athing mu also might consider the 400m, if her training suggest sub 49.
that is metals.
while the 800 for her is speculation, that she can come up with the 154 or better to metal.
coach will know based on workouts.
as in a 600m time trial
Did I read that right you think a 1:54 will be needed to medal?

Or better… sincerely.
Uh, bro...you know what the WR is?

I was making fun of the other poster.
Fahnbulleh seems to really be figuring it out in the 200m. Boling did not look good in the 100m or 200m (20.48???). He needs new coaching and will get it. He might think about going to trials in the 200m and 400m.
Fred Kerley has the build of a 100/200m man and he's run some really surprisingly good 100m times this year. But there's no doubt his best event is the 400. You can see the appeal of running sub-10 in the marquee event and not having the sprint endurance training of the 400m to deal with, but he's got to get back where he can run mid 43, maybe better with this improved basic speed, and we'll see that next year from him.

I look at it this way. If you had a chance to 10x your salary would you take it? He would go from a guy the rest of the world has never heard of to a god among men overnight.
What do you mean? Wouldn't he greatly increase his salaary by winning the 400 gold?
I still can't believe Fred Kerley is doing 100/200. He's run two 400s this year and both were 44s. His 200 pb is just 20.24. Yes he's broken 100 in two 100s this year but both had big winds (2.0 and 1.4).
It's going to be must-watch tv. As a non-sprint guy though, it just seems crazy.

Agreed. He would have basically been a lock if he ran 400. Who's his coach? Cannot believe they let him or they both decided to do this.
I was wondering why he was not in the 400 trials last night
boling is not even going to make the finals in both events. He has no business being in the olympics if he hasn't gotten a sub 10 or sub 20
Where’s everyone that said, Kerley wasn’t making the final????
He’ll make the team in the 100m!!!!
He’s my number two pick
Bromell
Kerley
Gatlin
He made it
Dennis Mitchell was a 400m runner in college that successfully moved down to the 100.
Other than that, it’s pretty rare.
Impressive.
He could medal in the 100 in Tokyo. I am ready to see how he runs in the 200. It seems like the 200 should be his best event but who knows. If Kerley medals in the 100, 200, and 4x100 in Tokyo that would be something. An Olympic/WC medal in every sprint event(100, 200, 400, 4x100, 4x400) would be crazy. Has anyone done it before?

1. BROMell
2. Young
3. Bracy
4. Baker
5. Jo'vaugh Martin
6. Gatlin
7. Bednarek
8. Laird
The man has to beat six of these people if they all choose to run. He WON'T!
....and there could be other college guys.
