My point is that if one has the talent to run 150 mile weeks, then they have the talent to NOT do so. Look at Jenkins log. On occasions he’s running two 24 min 8ks a week. Someone that can do that SHOULD be running 2:14 marathons. And that person should be proud of it, but it doesn’t mean that they are David and the White Collar Runners are Goliath
This was about the time when Brian Sell was at his peak, and also running crazy mileage, and it was very much in vogue for any legit marathoner who couldn’t run under 28 min for 10k to label victimize themselves as “110% slow twitch!” and “Blue Collar!” then on the occasions they did beat someone in the marathon who had the fast 10k times, to decide themselves into grandeur that they were doing it right and better all along.
