100% agree with Renato.
Hope World Athletics comes to senses and either approves Moen's record or calls off all existing records run in VF shoes.

It’s junk to have the same shoe requirements for 800m as you do for a 1Hr/half marathon and beyond on a track. World Athletics needs to clarify. Beyond 10,000m make the limit the same as road racing 40mm.

The latest shoe assist questions have cast a cloud on the sport of track. Is there a benefit or not? Should it be allowed if there is a shoe assist? Difficult questions.
There is a benefit to using 40mm stack shoes for track races over 5000m in terms of post race recovery (less calf soreness etc) and possibly a performance benefit on 'hard' track surfaces (old Mondo tracks). For calf issues, a 25mm non-spike shoe should do the job so I don't see a problem with the new rule. Before the supershoes runners often raced 10000s in road racing flats if worried about calf and achilles issues.
A digression...
There are scientific evidence that the leg stiffness is quite automatically adjusted based on the softness below the feet, and I would anticipate the legs do not see the difference if the ground is soft or hard or the shoes are soft or hard. Se for example: "
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9729582/"
; . That indicates that a large stack height and soft feeling might make your legs counteract and stiffen up to stay efficient. Then what is the gain ?
The experience from trainers and runners is still very valid and I do not question that, but I do not think one could get away from that different shoes and their build will impact the running form in some way. That is also my own experience being a devoted hobby runner having worked hard on transforming to an efficient running gait. I do respond to the shoes and some shoe features, like heel to toe drop, have a large and immediate impact on how I run. I therefore run with as minimal shoes as possible. Of course I do not run 150 km a week but still can have my injury issues. As long as I am used to the shoes (and the surface), I stay out of trouble. And I rather run on softer surfaces to be kind to my legs than choose platou shoes.
Btw, drop in shoes is something I do not understand is necessary, but that is another story....
the link got strange so useu this:
Renato,
Can you discuss with Sebastian Coe? You would think he would understand. I agree, that shoe council is a joke. It's like the brands sent their least qualified employees to fill a spot during COVID and force travel.
Continue to fight. The timing of this was all wrong. Great run from Moen.
Hi Renato,
How do you prevent Sondre from peaking too soon. I mean, he is at his best right now but london is still 5 weeks away. Are you planning one easy week ( without speedwork) after the 1 hour time trial, or are you continuing with hard training hoping to improve great current shape?

Ha! Least qualified? Look into who Chris Cook and Tom Carlio are, and what their past entails.
Uh, Chris is a developer, meaning entry level and Carleo is a dinosaur at New Balance!!

No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
