Conservatives have branded themselves as the pro business better economy party. They brand themselves as smart and shrewd as opposed to the Democrats who are brash, overly moral, and irresponsible. I don't think any of this is true in reality but the Republicans have the better brand on the economy which is the most important issue for independent voters
So, what does that say about the millions of R's and I's in FL who are still OK with DeSantis punishing Disney for disagreeing with him on a social issue? Apparently, when push comes to shove -and at least with DeSantis - culture wars are ACTUALLY more important than the economy (not to mention non-authoritarian principles). Moreover, I expect that plenty of other (or all?) Rs could get away with the exact same kinds of things.
Decent people don't think pre-pubescent children should have to be bombarded with sexual instruction and gender identity propaganda from activist teachers.
The overwhelming majority of Americans agree with DeSantis.

Even if that accurately reflected Disney’s position (which I tend to doubt does, and I would certainly never trust from you), them olde-fashioned Rs of yesteryear still wouldn’t have agreed with using the power of government to hurt a company with which you disagree with on a social issue (or pretty much any other “issue” not involving the breaking of the law).
But this does well-encapsulate the new R party, i.e., no issue or principle is more important than their dislike of things they consider liberal. In other words, an irrational, stupid, and destructive stance. And let’s not forget counter-productive, as they scare away tens of millions of potential allies on tons of issues, because those people rightly put those issues below the nation-destroying potential of the current R party.
But you and the other Trumpers are utterly incapable of understanding such nuance. Frankenstein say libs bad, everything else take back seat.

Groomers disagree.
It great to occasionally see arguably THE #1 self-own on LRC - the non-sarcastic use of “groomer”!!

The economy in Florida is doing amazing, thanks to Desantis.
Which, even if accurate, says absolutely zero about whether or not it’s appropriate for a governor to try to punish companies he doesn’t like. (hint: it’s very bad, regardless of economic indicators)

In other words, you have no idea what the hell you're talking about as usual.
There is no "nuance" about not wanting a POS like you talking about your sex life or your gender confusion with someone else's 6 year old.

Says the idiot who is spouting an opinion on a topic he knows nothing about.
The new IRS funding is being used to go after 1) tips, 2) gig workers, and 3) contractors who use Venmo. Not "the rich."
Says who (besides you)? Not an argument here, just curious about your source.
I will say that the prospect of actually having someone answer the damned phone is attractive.
The government has millions of employees and you will be talking to a phone tree no matter which agency you call no matter how many more people they hire.

Two empty replies, no rejection of government punishing companies. Yeah, you’re a real live principled conservative, not a massive loser Trumper.
And, of course, I’m sure that your characterization of Disney’s position bears little or no resemblance to reality.
Just to clarify the position of every Trumper (and dishonest actual Trumpers):
1) Our government is horrible. Can’t trust it a bit. It needs to be punished and significantly reduced.
2) AND, I’d like an authoritarian wanna-be like Trump (or DeSantis) in charge of that government.
This is a perfectly accurate way of stating your positions. And a grade schooler shouldn’t be advanced to middle school without being able to see the contradiction.

desantis has government workers asking lobbyists for campaign donations. If that happened on gummint phones or time it’s a crime. It’s an ethical nightmare in any case. Asking for bribes.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Officials who work for Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration — not his campaign — have been sending text messages to Florida lobbyists soliciting political contributions for DeSantis' presidential bid, a breach of traditional norms that has raised ethical and legal questions and left many here in the state capital shocked.
Wait, I thought Joe didn’t know where he was or what to say or what to do. huh. Speaker McCarthy would like to have a word.
I asked McCarthy about how he would describe his interactions with Biden during negotiations. “Very professional, very smart. Very tough at the same time,” McCarthy replied
