My last three days have been like this:
Tues (AM) - 1.3 mile jog to the track for my wife's workout, turned around due to youth track meet in progress
(PM) - 6 EZ with my wife, jogging part of her workout with her
Wed (AM) - 4 EZ shakeout run
(PM) - 7.5 incl 1500 race, 0.53s slower than my PR from end of last season
Thurs (AM) - 6.5 incl 3 @ 6:15ish to work out the junk and preserve aerobic fitness
(PM) - 5 EZ
The race felt strong and in control, and as a season opener felt pretty solid. I'll race a bunch of short stuff over the next two months, aiming for a 5000 early August. Next race is a dirt mile this weekend. Then I may double 800/3000 next Wednesday. I really enjoy these shorter races.
