Well done to Hocker - that was a perfectly executed race.
Jakob fan boys - like I’ve said time and time again - he only does well in DL races with pacers and lights. He actually can’t pace himself. He said in his post race interview that he had no idea how fast he was going - he just felt good. To be fair he was as quite humble in the interview.
Kerr - probably ran as well as he could. He beat Jakob and I just think Hocker had the better kick (and found space).
The classic mistake Jakob made is he focused on Kerr and didn't respect the rest of the field. Kerr actually did what he needed to do and set a NR but US guys were relentless staying close to the leaders and kicking hard, that's always the best strategy.
I told you all Kerr was laser focused and would show up battle ready! Perfectly peaked once again. Nothing you could do about Hocker like this though lol. Jakob needs to be humbled badly to learn to respect the competition. Hopefully he at least respects the hard work those pacers have done for him over the seasons. He thought he was hot $hit and got smoked in his own game. I don't know how he mentally recovers from this third terrible loss. Official that Tokyo was a fluke with Tim pacing him. He can't win when not paced.
Apparently Kerr can’t win if the race is fast. Kudos to Hocker.
Cannot get over Jakob's arrogance. He's unbeatable with a rabbit but it's delusional to think he can solo a 3:26 against a field this good. Opening with 54? Come on
Completely disagree. He was the fastest guy in the field by PR with arguably the worst kick. He ran a gutsy strategy that arguably maximized his chances to win, and he ran to win or go bunk. He ended up going bunk. Fortune favors the bold, and he ran boldly. There was a worst case scenario where with so much talent in this race, nobody would want to take it out, and we end up with yet another 3:36 snooze fest like we used to get stuck with. Jakob ran unpredictably, and we got an all-timer of a race out of it.
Win or lose, Jakob makes this event exciting, and better for the sport.
In global champ 1500s.. Jakob goes Gold - Silver - Silver - nil... definitely NOT the GOAT and definitely not the king of the 1500. Dude needs to start seeing a therapist.
