For once, Aden did not wait until the end of the race. I have to say, this race went very much as expected- the top 3 teams were certainly the best of the bunch, the top 10 runners in 3A were all the top runners in #a. York was in 24th place, hard to see. But who thought the best time would come from 1A, 14.05?

Dylan Nalley ran the fastest time of the day and is in 2A. That said a lot of really fast times across all divisions.
1A- 14:12 First Place, 14:49 5th Place, 15:08 10th Place, 15:26- 25th Place
2A- 14:05 First Place, 14:45 5th Place, 14:59 10th Place, 15:08 25th Place
3A-14:13 First Place, 14:22 5th Place, 14:36 10th Place, 14:44 25th Place

I mean at least it isn't like this _____ show. can't have the runners getting lost, and I don't think anyone could get lost at Detweiller (though never say never. I vaguely recall a thread recently where some kids got "lost at Detweiller" 3 mi course).

This is insane. The lead pack girls skipped the pre-race walk-through and went off course and got lost. Now they are re-running the entire race.https://www.valleybreeze.com/news/wrong-turn-causes-chaos-at-ripcoa-girls-state-c...

Times don't matter in cross country.
Detweiller is a joke of a cross country course.
The Detweiller course has remained almost exactly the same for over 50 years, so the times matter when comparing year to year. This has to be the first time all divisions had a runner under 14:20.
In terms of Detweiller being a joke, it's a flat 3 mile course so obviously the times will be faster than a 5k course. Still, some all time greats like Jim Spivey, Jorge Torres, and Evan Jager couldn't break 14:00 on the course so running 14:05 puts Nalley in good company.

You can also watch almost the entire race as it unfolds instead of runners heading into woods for half the race or are two miles away and you see maybe the start and the finish. It's a much more dramatic and exciting course. "Coach" is goof, World Cross Country championships are run on looped courses, often on racetracks.
Znajda had a ~5-second lead at 2 miles and it looked like she was comfortably moving away from Storms and Phillips. According to the announcers, she started fading soon after and dropped out around 2.5 miles. It was unclear what happened, whether it was exhaustion or injury, but I hope she can rebound for NXR.
