Was it a bus, car, wife clothing change? What was it EXACTLY? You have to admit you'd be curious to know as well.
Not really but then I don't have OCD, some people here suggest to me that if they were told it was a car, then they would need to know the make, model, engine size and horsepower otherwise we would "just be guessing".

How do you get CAR rides at the boston marathon? dont they close the whole course? He's gotta get from one 5K to the next!!!!
Hey dummy, the car isn't on the course, but instead is traveling on the roads that surround it. If you were serious, you're really out there.
you are a nut job dude! cars on the course??????

You guys were the ones who suggested cars
Missoula was open to traffic
Boston was not!!
ThunderRoads was also open to traffic.
In fact there was a car on the course several times near the 3:00 group. I brought this up to the Race Staff, but they said it was a race official "watching the 3:00 group".

Now I know for certain that you're trolling, nobody who can type is that stupid.
seriously a demented human being
the cars talked about aren't on the course
trolling is a compliment, as you are just stupid and good luck with that
Is there a vast conspiracy to deny Racerdb credit for blowing the lid off the Kip case? Yesterday, there was a link here to a post at Run Indiana (http://runindiana.yuku.com/topic/6246/Kip-Litton-suspected-marathon-cheater) in which our very own Racerdb stated in black and white that he was the first one onto this scandal.
And now a mere 24 hours later, both the post here and the one there have been deleted. Someone is scrubbing the world clean of all his contributions in an effort to deny him his due credit. Outrageous!
I don't think Racerdb wants due credit at this point, nor to be associated with all the nonsense this thread has come to...and i don't blame him.

Unfair, I think contributors to this thread can be categorised as
1. Those genuinely unimpressed with what has happened and don't think this should be quietly dropped.
2. Pro-Kip Trolls (I suspect possibly just one using a sockpuppetry approach) wanting to derail and discredit the information uncovered. Often use the clever tactic of making libellous claims.
3. General morons who just seemingly type random garbage, often they (or try to give this impression) haven't read any of the thread. Impervious to logic. Prone to "brilliant" insights (AKA Statements of the blindingly obvious) that were dealt with on page 3 of the thread.
4. A subset of type 1 but who give the impression that they have clinical OCD in that no answer to any query can possibly be detailed enough to satisfy their search for truth. They obsess over an article which should it ever appear they will immediately dismiss as not detailed enough.

Dave was there close to the beginning, but him "blowing the lid" off is just a blatantly false statement. I'm the one who got this going on the local level and then expanded it to the regional level. As I uncovered more of Litton's exploits in races across the nation, I then took it to the national level and used LetsRunners to scour race results and thousands of pictures to uncover the true level of deceit. I was the only one to contact Litton. I was the only one to get it contact with RD's. No one else took the actions I did to exploit him. And now I've taken the story to an international magazine. If there is someone else who has done all the things I have, I will give them the credit they are due. However, there is not anyone else.
It's great that Dave just wanted to keep Litton's cheating between him and his friends. I did not. I couldn't live with myself if I did.
BS - you are a troll

I read this thread as a runner, fascinated by the how, but this pending article should shed some light on the why, which should be equally - if not more fascinating.
That's basically what interests me here. Some are saying 'big deal he hitched a ride between mats' thinking it's so easy at Boston when in fact it's not due to the traffic and road closures. Far easier said than done.
The how & why is what interests me. Unless Kip grows a pair, we are all gonna be left guessing. The 'how' in Boston is thing I'd like to know the most. I wish I could issue a challenge to people to cheat at Boston. Like offer money to anyone that can get away with not running half the course, hitting all the mats, not get caught, have the splits make sense, break 3hrs, and explain exactly how, and have a way to prove their claim (GPS data, video, pictures, etc). It just seems impossible to me.
Dave b let's have a beer man ! You busted the son of a gun! That's so $$$ dude!!!!

I think we know he mustve gotten a car ride, taken the "T" train, rode a bike, or something of that nature. But Boston is a very difficult place to do that. The course is point to point, and it's got electronic checkpoints every 5 kilometers.
It takes some pretty careful planning to consistently hit close to all of them in the range of 6:25/mile or so.
Car scenario: Boston marathon is closed to traffic. It's extremely crowded.
Bike scenario: very possible.
T train scenario: unlikely because you'd probably end up going slower than the runners due to the high foot traffic surrounding the entire marathon area.
when you use any of these basic methods of transportation, do you arrive early and then stand around like a nonrunner looking at your watch and wait around a few minutes until the 5k interval (next checkpoint) is close to 20:00 or so and then cross the electronic timing mat? Possible but one wrong move and you screw up your pacing pretty easily. And the timing mats are supposed to be very sensitive as well.

No. It's not just me.
