http://www.pih.bc.ca/chat/ReadMessage.php?nMessageID=107623Good news and bad news from Saturday's race: ran a nice 16:04 PR, but didn't crack the mysterious 16:00 mark. Still, I was refreshed and felt great. The weather really cooperated -- overcast and cool -- not your typical June heat and humidity. Anyway I am enthused and reinvigorated. I still have my eye on the prize and hope to go for another crack at sub 16 in the coming weeks.
Thanks to Skuj and the rest for your support.
Oh, an easy 45' recovery run today.
Well done!
I'm off to Nanaimo now, for a cool, breezy, wet, and quite slow 800m, hahaha....but I still love this shyt, 2:20 be damned!
No run yesterday.
For me, identical route as Sun. last week in 46:49. totally recovery pace AHR 132 until home stretch, surge in 57 sec. MHR 153

All the best & U never no U May (month of) B faster?!
Any results from Abbotsford yet?
Today I did 20min jog + many strides + 800m in 2:16 + 20min jog.
I LOVED THIS 800M!!! I really didn't care about time as we lined up. I followed my main Masters competitor through 400m in 66, feeling AWESOME - I honestly thought it would be 68/69....then I went hard at 500m.....but I absolutely bonked at 650m hahahaha....I need a lot more 800m speedwork. Hopefully I will knock several seconds off this time over the next few weeks. My first two track races this year were awful. Today wasn't very fast for me, but I had immense fun, felt good and excited, and I now insanely crave more races. God I love the 800m.
jerry came 3rd just a few seconds behind gillis and a mexican in 29;26. bomba dnf.
bump
Yeah, just looked at those results. JZ beat Bairu. Quality scalpage. And he was only a second off his PB, it would appear. Nice run. Hey JZ, got any details to share on that one?
Total running time, 38:33
W-up for 7:14 HR 129
Solid pace for 23:14 AHR 152 MHR 161
Warm down 8:04 (same distance back) HR 141
Resting, Staying cool, and drinking lot's of water before i go out and do a 10 mile fartlek!
AM: 5 miles easy
PM: 15 miles including 15 x 400m hill repeats (5 easy, 5 medium, 5 hard), jog back rest
Thought for the day:
"Hills should be like money for runners. They should always be wondering why they don't have enough" -Arthur Lydiard
Since my absolutely epic 800m on Sunday, I've done:
M-30min jog + 4x100m strides + 10min jog.
T-31min easy + strides + (1600m - 2x800m - 1600m) in 6:19, 2x2:50, 5:29 (I only felt like pushing the last run) + 10min jog.
I haven't run beyond 50min in weeks!!! I hope to rectify that today.....
Well, instead of a single longer run, today I did 30min jog + (25sec-24sec-20sec-21sec-84sec) medium intensity runs + 27min jog.
Wow! Two 13k-ish days in a row!!! :)
First run for almost a year.
Horrible.
Painful.
Fun!
My run today;
A shorter solid one for 25:10 AHR 148 MHR 162
Easy for 4:18 HR 130
Pick up for 5:15 AHR 147 MHR 153, recovery 1:03 HR 133
Pick up, hill 3:57 HR 153, recovery 1:03 HR 134
Solid to finish 9:32 AHR 157 MHR 162

Let us know how the second one went. :)
Today I did 30min jog + (4x200m + 800m) in spikes, 54-43-38-34-2:31, not pushing very hard, + 16min jog.
Hello everyone,
It's almost been a full week since I've been to letsrun Sounds like I'm about to confess :). It's a busy week for me. I'm packing to go to Hornby Island for two weeks and while we're away our apartment is being re-painted and carpeted (which means we're not just packing for our trip but moving all of our crap to another apartment). Anyways, I'm happy about the 10000m on Sunday night. As someone else mentioned, it was quite a windy and cool evening. This resulted in a very erratic pace. Every home stretch the pack would bunch up in order to hide from the wind. I remember thinking about the ridiculousness of trying to draft behind a 5'2" Mexican. I was exactly :01.00 off my personal best of 29:25.76. It would have been nice to have PRed but I know that with the conditions and uneven pacing that this race was still my best ever effort over 10k. It was unfortunate that Simon was suffering from a hip problem. He wasn't even able to do strides beforehand so, although it looks nice to see my name ahead of his on paper, I know I still have a bit of work to do before I'm able to challenge him when he's at his best.
2k splits were: 5:51.1, 5:56.1, 5:59.6, 6:00.5, 5:37.8
I'll probably have limited access to the internet while I'm away so this will be a vacation from letsrun as well. Good luck to all of you in your training and racing. Cheers,
Jerry
Damn JZ!!! :)
Enjoy Hornby, Dude. I'm off till 28th. Don't be strange! :) Exactly 2 weeks??? Are you here on July 1st??? :)
5:37 is a hell of a finish. 5k plits 14:57 and 14:29???
Too bad about Simon. I'm scratching my head actually as to why he even started.
Will you find another 10000m this year?
Or maybe 14:47 / 14:39???
Hope Marcus isn't injured.
