This is why it’s so necessary to do your best and not get stuck in a tactical race. Who cares about top 3 if you don’t actually get to go to Paris because the race was too slow and tactical.
Uhh, it was too hot to run the standard.
It’s weird how the sprinters don’t whine about the conditions and put forth their best effort each and every time.
Somehow for some reason some producer at Peacock must’ve suggested they do away with posting results after races/events. I can’t even….
Ya, everytime I watch nbc/peacock they're setting a new low, they're already the worst coverage in the developed world, but can they be worse than developing nations too? Its kind of exciting to watch them try. I have to go here after each event.
"As of Tuesday, based on the current Road to Paris List, and our own calculations after Lukan’s Euros performance (Remember: It’s a moving target!), Valby’s best shot at making the team in the 10,000m would be to get to an average of 1210 (to go ahead of Lukan’s 1209-point total). Since WA scores the average of an athlete’s two best results, and Valby’s Bryan Clay showing is worth 1221, she needs at least a 1199-point showing to get there. She can do so by: – Finishing 3rd at the Trials and running 31:43.72 or faster: 45 placing points + 1154 result points = 1199 performance score. – Finishing second at the Trials and running 31:49.35 or faster: 50 placing points + 1149 result points = 1199 performance score – Winning the Trials and running 32:00.65 or faster = 60 placing points + 1139 result points = 1199 performance score."
Lukan is listed on the Road to Paris site with 1218 points, not 1209. Valby's still behind her.
I think Valby just needs to get ahead in rankings of US runners, because there are still two spots, since only Kelati had the standard. Karissa actually has more points than Valby, 1182 and 1161, respectively.
Great to see it. He crushed that in 83 degree weather for the win. He can run sub-8:10 in Europe in good conditions with drafting. Also, fine time for Yasin Sado of UVA behind him.
If I'm doing the math right: 1155 time points for Valby, plus 50 place points for 1205 total. Averaged with her race at Brian Clay that improves her ranking score to 1213, putting her at 29th on the Road to Paris list (not factoring any changes that may have happened from the other women in the race).
Monson is one of the top 29, so reduce Valby to 28th. She just needs one more to drop out. Schweizer is going.
But if you take Monson off the list, you have to add in one of the other Americans who's still ahead of Valby (i.e. Henes or Rogers).

You do not have to add them. USATF will enter the top runners from trials if they are qualified in any way. This includes if they would be qualified bypassing higher ranked Americans on the road to Paris list.
Shout to the women SP- Chase Jackson, the favorite, showed her class; Raven Saunders returns to form after being away; Jaida Ross puts an exclamation point on a terrific collegiate season.
