Here's an update from NSW, the biggest state in Aust (where Sydney is).
- as of 2 days ago, 85.5% fully vaccinated in 16+ age group. 83.65% in the 12+ age group
- 12+ age group expected to get to 90% double vaxxed in 2 weeks (a few days earlier for 16+)
- 7% of new cases in the last week are among the fully vaccinated
- 83% of new cases are unvaccinated (the balance is single dosed).
- That is, the 85% of the population who are double vaxxed make up 7% of new cases. This has been consistent for some time. Without question the vaccines are effective at reducing transmission.
- 6.67% of those in hospital and 4% of those in ICU are double vaxxed. That is, the 15% of people who are not fully vaccinated make up 93% of those in hospital and 96% of those in intensive care. They also make up 93% of new cases.
- When NSW opened up after 100 days of lockdown, the 7-day average was 560 cases per day
- 6 of the last 10 days the cases have been under 300.
Exactly how overwhelming do people want the numbers to be, to show the community benefit in vaccinations?
Blah blah blah.
"Blah, blah, blah"?!??!?! That about sums of this thread and, well , most arguments on the internet.
One side [ almost always an educated person, often with an advanced degree, more often than not a liberal, but not always ] presents irrefutable scientific evidence that something is true , and...
the other side [ usually a poorly educated person, often with not even a college degree, and very often, but not always, a right winger] says in response: "blah, blah, blah" [ or the equivalent].
Or, in an attempt to refute the other person's Ironclad, fully referenced and factually proven point, they either point to some study or article that actually DISproves their own argument, or one that has been 100% destroyed, debunked, and often even removed from the scientific literature for being a fraud or complete piece of crap.
Then, when they are called on that bit of nonsense, they revert back to: "blah blah blah".
And on it goes. And goes. And goes....
