House republicans also assert Obama was born in Kenya, the election was stolen, cutting taxes on rich people is the best way to help poor people, democrats are Socialists, Hillary is a crook, etc
Incorrect!! Most if not all GOP reps agree that Obama was born in HI. However, your party has indeed swung hard to the left and into the arms of socialism.
Sleepy Joe IS a crook and it's going to be fun watching the lib meltdown once this leads to impeachment hearings.
ok cool
do us a favor and list the elected Democrats who favor state ownership of production. And list a few bills introduced to make that happen.
If the Dems have 'swung left into the arms of Socialism' then that should be a very easy task for you.

Silly, you *know* that not what he meant! "Socialism" means "anything I don't like" to Gary, and you know that.
But yeah, the fraction of folks who know that socialism is state/community ownership or management of the means of production, exchange, and distribution is vanishingly small.
Ben Meiselas presents the latest MeidasTouch video entitled 'Trump Is Done,' which showcases Donald Trump's humiliating, pathetic, and low-energy announcement that he is running for president along with the embarrassing reaction from people across the political spectrum. Smart Republicans could learn from this.
To be fair and correct, the "smart Republicans" learned this already.
Don't forget that you're being "fair and correct" about roughly 10 people. Trump's approval amongst Rs has remained disgustingly high for years and years.
Lee Zeldin is another dumb@ss Trumper. You don't understand what has happened here. America has rejected M*A*G*A. M*A*G*As are the ones who are RINOS, not the other way around. Get that into your head and start to look for DECENT people who have conservative values. You know, Ronald Reagan saw the importance of encouraging foreigners to come here. One of the few things he was right about.
Chill out Flagbro. Lee Zeldin lost by 5 in a state Biden won by 23, and in the process, carried enough Republicans to win the NY state house.
Correct, Zeldin did surprisingly well.
An indication of how many stupid NYer's there are (although I'll admit to being nothing close to a Hochul fan).
Regardless, NOT a tribute to Zeldin's character. Just another douche Trumper.

The midterms were a turning point (actually just before them...enough time for voting to go against Trumpism).
Here's the very first thing that came up when I looked for his current approval amongst Republicans.
For those who won't read it, the title is "Before midterms, Trump’s image among Republicans had become less positive."
Here is the opening paragraph - "Republicans in the United States continue to have generally positive views of Donald Trump, but the share expressing warm feelings toward the former president in Pew Research Center surveys had fallen off by the run up to this month’s midterm elections".
Here's the thing about that...Trump LOST in 2020 when his supporters were at their peak for him. He needs to do BETTER than that for his populist movement to continue. BUT, his popularity as fallen off in a measurable way.
It's over. He may ALWAYS be able to gather a more enthusiastic crowd of 2,000 people than any other politician, but that means nothing. He can not and will not win another election. The sooner his base and the GOP realizes this (McConnell knows it to be true), the sooner Republicans can win big elections again.
So, you are saying that none of the current investigations into Trump are going anywhere. Is that your position?
No, my point is they haven’t yet. And the Democratic effort to do so is unprecedented.
Ok, so a non-point then. Got it.
I know that living in a backwards state like Idaho (well, to be fair, Ohio is now a backwards state which is part of why I will not stay here after The Lovely Mrs. Flagpole retires), gives you a skewed perspective, but there is a REASON the "effort" to go after Trump is unprecedented. Kind of has to do with the unprecedented criminal behavior of said Trump, don't you know. Democrats didn't just decide to investigate him for no good reason. He's a freakin' criminal, dude! He just STOLE a ton of documents that others have gone to prison for doing on a much lesser scale! The DOJ treated him with kid gloves this whole time, and we might not have even heard about it if he had just returned the stuff when first asked about it. But, he likes shiny things and wanted to keep them. WTF! He's a child! BUT, he's a dangerous child...well, strike that...he WAS dangerous. He has been decapitated by the midterm election and the reaction by right-wing media since. It's over.

Meh. He still got beaten by nearly 6 points in a race that Democrats weren't even fired up about because Zeldin had no realistic chance. Anyway, my initial point about his is (because someone else mentioned it) he's hardly someone to take over and lead the Republican Party going forward. He's a Trumper. He just lost an election. Trumpism is dead. Republicans need to look to non-Trumper candidates in the future if they want to continue to be valid.

Unfortunately, I think that being sure of either of the following is premature:
1) That Trump is done heavily influencing - and perhaps still leading - the R party anytime soon.
2) That Trumper Rs won't do a really good job of imitating him for years or decades to come.
I don't think that "normalizing" (badness in character/government) is just some semi-fancy word/concept that left-leaning journalists and pundits meaninglessly toss around. I think Trump did this, big time. The question is to what degree, and do we see a return to pre-Trump norms anywhere in the foreseeable future?

Two things that most certainly do NOT jibe:
1) Stating that, "Trumpism is dead." And,
2) What R House members are telling us TODAY about their investigation plans in the new Congress.

1) Nah...Trump's power is over. He will never win again. Being endorsed and supported by Trump will not be a good thing for candidates going forward, and the number that he will endorse will be far less than ever. Since endorsing candidates in the future likely will have NO benefit to him (because he will never win another election), he might not endorse another one again.
2) There will be people who will TRY to imitate Trump, but they will fail. There is not a single person in this country who has used his money and lawyers and time to outlast accountability like Trump has. He has been able to escape accountability time and again which just made him more and more emboldened. DeSantis, for example, will not come anywhere CLOSE to trying to do the illegal things that Trump has done if he ever becomes President. That's not to say that DeSantis might not do some things he may get into trouble for, but whatever it is will PALE in comparison to what Trump has done.

Yeah, they do. Most of those fools in the R House were already there. They are leftovers, elected at the height of Trumpism. Not indicative of what is to come. With a very thin majority in the House and being a minority in the Senate, they are impotent anyway.
For Trumpism to be alive, the leader, Trump, still has to have a hold on the party...still has to have power. He doesn't. Most Republicans would rather see DeSantis win the nomination in 2024. As I have already stated, DeSantis isn't Trump 2.0. He would have to TRY to lie more than Trump to make it so. He would have to TRY to commit more crimes than Trump to make it so. It's over. SOME pundits and talking heads will still refer to Trumpism going forward, but that will be disingenuous (yes, even if CNN does it), and it will ONLY be to put a loser label on a currently relevant Republican.

Burbank California is perfect for you. You can socialize with all the would be actors. And chum with the ultra weirdo leftist Adam Schiff. A couple words of advice. Get a security system, and nail everything down. Including potted plants. Carry highest automobile coverage. Get an umbrella policy for lawsuit coverage. Avoid looking into Adam’s eyes, and stay out of Leno’s garage. Other than that, you should be good. 🫃😹🧑🏻🎤🧟♂️🌴
Also, sorry, don’t buy a house with any living landscaping. No water. Cactus and rocks, ok, but not optimal. Pave the whole yard cover with Astro Turf, rubber fake palm tree. Environmentally friendly, accept for the radiant heat. Pretty much wall to wall pavement most of So Cal anyway. You can thank me later.
For you a major plus will be people obsessed with Trump. You can easily organize a club of likewise, slightly deranged libs. Frothing st the mouth may be a problem, so bring plenty of tissue or a dry hankie. 🇷🇺👩👧👧🎱

Crtl-F "Trump" nets 64 results on this single page of the...Biden thread. The former President will be "done" when people stop talking about him. I don't see that happening any time in the near future...
