Ah, but you see, members of the cult feel like they *are* Trump. They feel at some root level that white nationalism which has controlled the political narrative since Bacon's rebellion is slipping from view, and they're right. White "christian" conservatives (I'm using quotes because modern conservatism is completely paradoxical to the teachings of Christ) have held a disproportionate amount of political power for 400 years, compared to their percentage of the population. So strong has been their grip that it's taken this long to finally expose not only the massive hypocrisy that exists within it's philosophies, but also the fallacies of the political policies that accompany it (trickle-down economics in particular). So Trump comes along and understands that this is a massively undereducated crowd who can be easily manipulated into giving him a huge amount of money (since banks won't loan him any more), and presto: M*GA. The beauty if it all, from the perspective of someone on the other side of the political spectrum (read: living in reality) is that there is no winnable outcome for Republicans, next year. In the first scenario, Trump hangs on to the nomination and millions of non-M*GA Republicans stay home in November out of disgust, and Dems sweep. The other scenario is that one of the (R) upstarts somehow wrests the nomination away from Trump, and Trump commands his flock not to vote for them in an effort to tear down the party that has turned against him (and of course they do his bidding). Either way, it's going to be a great year for Democrats, and in turn, a great year for America as our pillars of democracy are reinforced through the reelection of Biden and a Democratic congress.
