For 3:43.7 to be a mild disappointment at the end of a season that featured a 2 mile WR (converting to better than the 3k WR everyone used to say was the strongest distance record), world silver/gold while ostensibly sick, 3:27, and 4:43, just shows how incomparable Jakob is now and just about ever in history. It was awesome seeing such a ridiculously good season being put together and for those of us who started watching track after 2005, the first time we’ve gotten to see a mid-distance campaign even remotely as strong
And Nuguse, no matter what happens now, will always be a legend of T&F - for running 3:43(!!!) but also because of how incredible that race was, and how long it will be remembered in T&F history - and I’d be scared to compete against him next year no matter who I was. He keeps getting better, and better, and better, and he clearly has not hit his cieling. The 1500 in 2024 is shaping up to be one of the greatest battles of all time and I don’t think anyone can say right now what is going to happen - but what we do know is that it’s going to be completely incredible
A legend of American track and field. Nuguse needs medals to get to that next level. He doesn't want to be another Alan Webb.
A bit off topic and the replay isn't up yet, but did Kara say Jakob is getting married next week? Someone better alert that poster that said everyone who gets married performs worse forever afterward

I was wondering if he would've broken the record if he didn't bother with the glancing. Just know someone's behind you but you have a different task at hand because you're far superior.
'far superior' and "beat them by 0.2" are not the same thing
I meant that as the mindset Jakob is supposed to have, to go along with all the stuff he says, like Don't lie down on the ground after the race. Show you're better (even though it's just sort of posturing but then you grow into that posturing).

Oh, don´t care about Khamis.
Jakob has been living with his coming wife since they were 15-16.
Oh, I'm not shocked or anything. I just wasn't sure if I misheard or not. I got married to my wife at 20 and we have been together since we were 15. I just wanted clarification
I think that’s the best Rai has ever looked at the end of a big race. And now he has a bye into worlds (not that he really needed it to make the team) so maybe we could see him in the open quarter at the trials (I say only because I’d like to see it)
Next year is Olympics, no byes.
And when 2025 comes around, it will be the 2024 DL champ that will be entitled to the DL bye.
Did shacarri get breast implants or reduction? Rojo made reference to this on the preview podcast yesterday. Just said augmentation. Can’t tell by looking at her. Why would she get implants? Wouldn’t that cause her to be slower? It doesn’t look like she got a reduction
*rojo did say he only said what he said because it was basically publicly known. Not sure if he just meant by before and after pictures or whatever

Anyone have an answer to this yet?
Sha' Carri got breast implants a year or two ago, during the wacky weed smoking period of her life.
You want to know why? Who knows? She has done a lot of strange things that make no sense.
Age comparisons are always funny to me because they don't really forecast anything.
age comparisons do forecast improvements when an athlete is still improving.
even bernard lagat ran his PB of 3:26 1500m when he was 26.
you think someone runs their lifetime best at age 22? get real
It's not uncommon. Ryun ran his lifetime bests at age 20. Bekele ran his lifetime 5000 PB at age 22. Kipchoge, despite having a long career, ran his life time 5000 PB at age 19.

Every runner's progression is different.
Fair comparisons but they didn't have the technology and training that allows for longevity and fast times that we have now. I'm sure all three would have run PBs later in their careers if wavelight was thing, for example.
Also, Ryun was overtrained in his short but mighty career, not to mention what cinders and leather shoes does to your body.
