Jason Parra, Jack Brown, Aiden Ransom and Emmett Weshler are farster than Bryce who was the first scorer for Millikan at Great Cow. The coaches wanted to maintain the top guys from racing too early.

Meanwhile the NP Boys came out looking frankly better than they did going in once you slot in Doshi. Lots of sub 16 minute 3 milers which is good depth compared to the rest of the field.
Probably no shot at a merge NXN qualification or a state championship unless Doshi comes out the gates with a top 5 finish.

Check out this thread You will see who else was missing other than Doshi and who their new transfers are
Second place finish at the Cool Breeze Invitational race yesterday, even when missing their top guy Dev Doshi!!Its not the end of an era, it’s the beginning of a new 💥
Let me add my bitching about Milesplit. They currently have listicles of the top 3-mile performances for this weekend, girls and boys.
The girls article won't load for me. Some sort of malformed URL. It's been that way a couple hours, no one seems to have noticed there.
For the boys, they have the Great Cow Run times in there, even though that race was short at 2.93 miles, . With some knowledge and care, they could convert those times to a full 3 miles, even with a simple ratio like 3.00/2.93 instead of applying a fancy algorithm. But that would require someone who is on top of the California XC scene.
For those who have been inquiring, the official race distance for today’s Great Cow Run at John Glenn HS was measured at 2.93 miles. 👌

The race shouldn't list themselves as 3M in the results if they aren't actually 3M. I think that's the bigger issue than MileSplit. If the Great Cow Run lists their results as 2.93 then they wouldn't show up in a list of 3M results.

I wish the podcaster didn't focus so much on speed ratings. speed ratings only become more accurate for california once mid-season hits and Clovis / Mt Sac courses are run (which have lots more data). These speed ratings are pretty bad considering that the course distance was over 3 miles. Also to note the only comparable course is the previous course Cool Breeze 2022. The changed the course so anything before that was run at a different course.

the worst part about these speed ratings for cool breeze is that they are going to be used to justify the low speed ratings for Woodbridge. But after woodbridge, clovis/mt sac speed ratings in california start to go back to being accurate.
So glad someone is mentioning this, our team just averaged 15:49 on the hardest 3 mile course (excluding Mt. Sac) in California. We lost a lot of seniors in 2022, but this year we are returning the best squad in Vacaville history. I'm pretty certain 15:49 team avg is a course record at Lagoon but someone needs to check. We beat Jesuit badly, and they're ranked 5th (?) in D2.

I think the top guys not on qualifying teams will be: Jason Parra (8:46), Grant Morgenfeld (8:49), Evan Noonan (8:49), Carter Spralding (8:50), Emmanuel Perez (8:50), Andreas Dybdahl (4:08), Aydon Stefanopoulos (8:57), Joshua Bell (8:55), and Broen Holman (9:01). Anthony FastHorse (8:51) will be up there but his team will go to NXN if all goes well, leaving room for other individuals to qualify
Saint Francis’ CCS Matthew Mullane just defeated 8:49 Grant Morganfield by 12 seconds. I researched Mullane and he ran 16:50 at last years state meet at Woodward Park. This past spring the fastest 3200 I found for him was 9:52.
The question is was Morganfield sandbagging or is Mullane going to be contender for NXN.

Morgenfeld broke his leg over summer. He ran the meet as a workout.
Either way, I highly doubt he will be a contender for NXN.
dang Morganfeld was supposed to be one of our best cali runners. so much bad news for cali trabuco hills top guy injured, venturas degeorge injured, i wonder what is next

Any more info on what "broke his leg" means? Technically any fracture is a broken bone. I don't mean to be cold or dismissive, it is just that he is still entered in the Woodbridge Sweepstakes race as individual, and he is from Palo Alto. Last year, he came alone as well. That's a long way to go if you aren't in good racing shape. I can see doing it for the team, but not to travel that far as an individual.
I see his team is scheduled to run the Lowell Inv. on Saturday. Maybe he will give it a harder run and see if it is worth the trip to Woodbridge.
