Well she already has the fastest 1,500m race on the Wolfpack squad this outdoor season at 4:12.02 and that is also the #13 best D1 race this season (per TFRSS).
A mere shadow of the Tyynismaa who ran 4:09 twice, won the East Regional 1500, led the Olympic Trials 1st Round with 300m to go, led the Olympic Trials semifinal with 400m to go, and placed 3rd in NCAA Cross Country, all during her freshman season. Just two months ago she was completely blown off the track by Wiley and Maatoug.
She didn't have indoor eligibility as a consequence of her transfer so why would she have been all in for a few indoor races? May never run 4:09 again? After opening up at 4:12 in March? Get back with us in June.
Btw, leading a race up until a certain point is not an accomplishment in a championship race.
She actually looked quite good last night in her heat in the ACC 1,500m preliminary races and finished with the top time among all heats and qualified for tomorrow's race... as did Hartman and Shaw also from NCSU.
4:17.90 for only 6th at ACCs? If she wanted to leave Alabama she should have followed her coach to Florida and ran with Valby.
Not a great run, all 3 packers a bit flat. Strong close from both Appleton and Maatoug.
Some of the NCst team seem to have problems closing well the final stages of their races this season. Tyynismaa final lap was slower than penultimate. Not her best race.
With the pace being slow I was wondering how the weather was. It is in the 80s but that affects everyone. Also, league meets are always tricky and I don’t expect the times to be all that stellar in the distance events. They’re held at the end of the year when temps are up, many are running events to maximize points, semis are run for the 800 & 1500, and all of that.
I also thought that Hartman would run better than she did and I was surprised that Taryn Parks was well off the pace to finish last. I wasn’t surprised that Virginia’s Esther Seeland was 3rd and she’s probably kicking herself for not putting herself in a position to challenge for the win. She has a very strong finish due no doubt to primarily being an 800 runner and even dabbling in the 400 when she was at Messiah.
The men’s race was also sort of odd. Gary Martin was 8th more than 5 seconds off the pace of the winner.

Tyynismaa nyycely weelcoomed to AACC, winning 5000 on pure haate after disappointing 1500.

So much for the comment about NCSU runners not closing well with Chmiel and Tyynismaa on their last two laps and Amaris' final 150m to edge Kelsey for the individual title.
