Incredible 4x1 result: Italy running down GB on the final stretch, crazy. Canada 3rd. Jamaica pulling a team USA performance?
Wot…Jamaica got beaten by China..?
I'm not surprised. Could anyone of JAM break 10 seconds now? At least China has Su Bingtian.

Beautiful picture. I love these two. The bronze medalist? Not so much. I'm not keen on hubris.
USA and Kenya are having a disappointing Olympics by their standards. Who's happiest? I think Italy (5 golds) and Canada.
Poland also has had a great athletics... (along with Canada and Italy and Brits... )
Very well done!
I do not think Purrier looked good in the semi or final. I would be surprised if she is not or has not been hurt or sick. She does not look like the same person she was at the trials. I don't think she could medal, but I think at her best she races a lot better today than she did.
I wonder what the stat is on men's individual 100m champ's country going on to win the 4x100. Has certainly happened in many of the most recent Olympics

Kipyegon is going to ruin their narrative in 30 minutes.
There are many mothers competing at the Olympics. They just don't like to lead with it. Shelly Ann Frasier Pryce is one.
Felix isn't just a mother, she is a legend; she has been competing in the Olympics since Athens 2004. - Athens 2004....think about that!
How awesome was the photo of the two British relays with Muir in the middle?
Feeling for Britain's anchor but what an exciting race despite no stars and stripes.
Italy won that 4 x 100 off of handoffs alone. They were flawless.
Of course, they ran fast, too, but their handoffs were the difference between Gold and not being on the podium. Amazing. Each one looked like a slingshot.
Kilty: right out of Peaky Blinders, onto the third leg

purrier ran 4:01, right?
for her, after heats, in the hot and humid, first OG...really not all that disappointing.
she did stick her nose into it the first minute or so - not a complete non-race for her.
I was really rooting for her, but that had to be disappointing. She was towards the front for 200 meters, then she never went with any of the runners that were passing her. Basically time trialed a 4:02 if you round it up. Hull at least was toward the front of the second group and blew up to get passed.

Those handoff weren't safe either; looks like they have known for some time who their legs would be and had every intent on winning a medal.
Btw, even if the U.S. hadn't botched the handoffs, they weren't going to win that race; 3rd is the best they could have hoped for. Travone Bromell who was supposed to be our fastest leg and give us the lead on first leg, he was only in 3rd handing off. Fred Kerley and Ronnie Baker was able to get us into 2nd, but with our slowest leg on anchor even with a perfect hand off we were in trouble.

Wrong week for Hassan to cut back on her "treatments".
Exactly. Just like Katir. Whatever they're on (and stopped taking pre Tokyo) only lasts a week :)
yah she's only won an olympic gold, fell in a prelim and won the heat, and dominated a semi final in the last week, but sure she cut back on her treatments.
you could either suggest she's on something or that she's clean. but to suggest she was on something and is no longer is pure braindead take. like probably the absolute stupidest conclusion you could make.
i haven't been to this website in awhile. there are some really smart people who post here and there also might be some of the dumbest people on the internet here.
