Well the destiny of the democrats is to lose power as the majority of the people have rejected their horrid leadership.
Yeah, except I'm talking about our divine destiny. Preordained by our merciless Lord, our giver of Laws, our Bread and butter, the Lamb of all that reigns. I wasn't talking about some goddam hindsight retrospective on the vagaries of the American election cycle, for Christ's sakes!
This is really hard to watch but I think it's important that every American watches this at least once. Everyone needs to understand that this is a person Joe Biden sought out, not as a sideshow act, but to make major policy recommendations.
The growth was due in large part to a narrowing trade deficit, which economists expected and consider to be a one-off occurrence that won’t be repeated in future quarters.
No one is always right. I am right the vast majority of the time.
On THIS though, it was an easy prediction as ALL things pointed to this. I didn't even consider this a prediction from me...just stating a fact that was going to happen.
"If you take a step back and look at GDP, it's gone effectively nowhere over the last year," says Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. "One quarter or two it's down a bit. This quarter it's up a bit. But net-net, we're kind of treading water."
Thursday's GDP report shows the U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 2.6% in July, August and September, after shrinking in the first half of the year.
I can't find it anywhere, but in the 1990's Dana Carvey appeared in a skit portraying third-party candidate Ross Perot in which he discussed his plan for the US economy. When he talked about GDP and how Carvey-as-Perot had a plan to give himself a nice bonus if GDP was high, I specifically remember the line "a chimpanzee could run this country and get 2% growth." So...Biden is at that level, which is still an improvement over the past two quarters.
Question: what does this mean for the midterms? Biden seems to have pursued a dual strategy of claiming that he has a good record on the economy while hammering culture war issues that endear him to progressives. Is it too little too late, or will this push back the tide on the Red Wave that everyone except Mother Jones on the left seems to have conceded?

You said inflation was going to be dropping. You sure missed on that one.

Thanks for the pics, I had not seen those before. I wouldn't kick her out of Congress for eating crackers.
